Greatest number of AP's in one year!

block scheduling

4 classes on one day (A-day), other 4 on the other day (B-day)

having two days to do homework may seem like a lot of time, but I can guarantee you that with several extracurriculars and standardized tests, 7 IBs is still pretty difficult...

Ever hear of someone who has an insane amount of college credit through AP being considered as a transfer student when he/she applies to college?

My schedule next year:

AP US History
AP Biology
AP English Lit
AP Calculus AB
Pre-AP/IB Spanish 3
IB Film
IB 20th Century World Politics

Online Classes:
AP World History
AP Statistics

I will also be taking the AP Latin test since I am well-versed in Latin and my school does not offer it.

jason- No, but one of my friends entered BYU as a junior thanks to IB/AP credit.

One of my friends (we're both seniors) is skipping his first year of engineering and entering college as a sophomore because he fullfilled all of the required freshman courses. He's paying like $12000 total for college and he's probably going to graduate making $50k. Damn good life after graduation lol!

Holy **** just read the above post; that's insane! Why would he want to miss out on 2 great years of college!!

my school requires EVERYONE to take 6 IBs: english, history, foreign language, science, math, and another science/music theory/art/economics

history - 2 years of euro
foreign lang. - french, german, or spanish
science - chemistry, physics, biology, or environmental systems
math - math studies (AP Stats), math methods (AP Calc AB), or math HL (AP Calc BC)

All IBs are two years except for environmental systems

Thus it's THAT much harder for me to have a "difficult" courseload in the context of my high school....(if you want, you can check for an earlier post listing my courseload)

.....

I wish my school had IB business...

This is mine

IB Physics HL
IB English HL
IB History HL
IB Math HL
IB Spanish SL
IB Art SL
AP Economics
AP Constitution Team (The more intense government where we compete, and got 4th at nationals =D )

My predicted scores are:

IB Physics HL - High five, low six (I took practice test and got 6, 7, 6, but my lab reports are awful.)
IB English HL - Five at best (My weakness since I don't write coherently, but got 7's on oral comm and presentation)
IB History HL - Six to a seven (depends on my writing that day since I can memorize facts, but fail to write a well structured paper, though my arguments are right on)
IB Math HL - Low seven, high six (I need trip 7's on the exams and I did that on the practice, but Paper 1 this year was exceptionally hard so maybe a 6)
IB Spanish SL - High five, low six (Language is my weakness)
IB Art SL - Not getting assessed, but a five
AP Economics - 3 to a 4. I never go to class nor do I study for it since I hate the class and teacher.
AP Constitution Team (govt) - 2 to a 5. Because of cteam I am specialized in areas of govt lol, so i may get a test i know completely or nothing on, but i don't feel like studying for it. Same teacher as econ. =/

My friend is insane because he took all of these in 1 year (the exams, not necessarily the class)

IB English HL (2yr) - 6
IB Physics HL (2yr) - 7
IB Math HL (2yr) - 7
IB Spanish SL - 6
IB Bio SL - 7
IB History HL (2yr) - 7
AP Econ - 5
AP Chem - 5
AP Bio - 4
AP Physics C - 5
AP Calc BC - 5
AP Spanish - 5
AP English - 5

All in 1 year... He is one of the smartest kids to come out of South texas. For example, he got a 1580 SAT, (780M 800V) and knew he had a 1600 and proved that collegeboard had an error in the math problem he missed--he received the 1600.

Blast. My state (CA) got 2nd in Nationals and my team finished 2nd in State in WTP. Beaten by the other team by 3 points. Rather disappointing.

In any case, I personally think APs are easier than regular classes--you're just studying for one class all year.

Junior year:

AP US History - 5
AP Biology - 5
AP Psychology - 5
AP English Language - 5
AP Chemistry - 4
AP Computer Science AB - 5

The classes were all A's as well.

Managed to also get 2310 on SAT and two 800 SAT II's as well in the same year, with a minimum of studying, due to somewhat of a lack of time.

Amazingly, I thought junior year was rather fun in that respect.

I met your team! They were really friendly, and I wanted them to win since New Jersey was *****y. It was funny because nobody expected Texas to do well since our team was only 15 people, we were loud, danced alot, and looked like a party school =D. The look on everyone's faces when Texas got Top 10 was priceless: "How the hell did those idiots pull that off?" look, which we were in the back dancing with cowboy hats =D.

Best trip ever.

I'm taking 7 AP tests this year:

English Language
Statistics
World History
European History
US History
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics.

And next year it will probably be:

Chinese
Calc BC
Physics B
US Gov
Comparative Gov
English Literature

chuckle My particular team was 2nd in the State.

However, 1st team in CA is from the same city (in fact, my high school's rival school) so I know a lot of the people you met.

I did hear from Amador's team that there was a lot of "***" reaction during the announcement of the top 10. Heh.

I took 7 IB classes junior year:

French 3, English 3, Pre-Calc, Comp. Sci, Econ, US History, Physics

I made all A's each semester except for an 89 in physics 1st semester
I also got a 5 on Macro/Micro, 5 on APUSH, 3 on English Lang (Yeah I suck at reading fast), 4 on Physics IB, and 5 on Comp. Sci

This year I took 5 IB classes:

Calculus, English 4, French 4, Theory of Knowledge, Economics 2

All A's both semesters

I took 5 APs this year as a Junior.

I know a Senior at a school near mine who took 10 APs this year.

It really depends on yourself. I say go for the challenge. Perhaps you'll regret it the first two weeks of May, but that is short-lived.

I'm taking six this year. (English Lang, US History, Statistics, Spanish, Comp Sci, Chemistry)

With all 6 tests. So far, I'm hoping for 5's in all except a 4 in Spanish (it seems feasible with my performance this past week, now it's time to cram for Chem/CompSci)

I'm going for National AP Scholar this year, is all... I have 3 AP tests done already with 5's. I have to say, it's harder to do them all through school, like I am... some AP classes are complete crap and it literally would have been better to self-study everything.

i have 8 APs this year. 3 down and 5 to go!!!!

i took four APs my junior year. best year of my high school career. fun, slacked off, and got 4s.

i'm good with that. it really does depend on the classes though. some APs are harder than others.

Loading up on AP courses that include a lot of studying/hard facts (the sciences, US or European history, psych, etc.) may be harder to handle, particularly around AP testing time. Both Englishes don't require a whole lot of studying (they just depend on your reading, interpreting, and writing skills), so they won't stress you out as much.

Im taking 6 APs...I have an A in 5 of them and a B in one of them.

Ill probably be getting 3-4 5s and the rest 4s.

would colleges dislike someone with an insane amount of AP credit since he could skip a couple years of college and graduate early, so the college will actually be losing money?

I'm taking 7 APs
Calculus AB
Environmental Science
English
Art History
2D Art
Government
Macro Economics

Although I'm only taking the AP test for 4 of the classes I'm really glad I took that many APs. My GPA and rank has skyrocketed because of the 10 extra points my school adds for AP classes.
