anyone have experience with 9-10+ AP tests in one year?

School is about to start and I want to make sure I am not overloading myself come May. Does anyone have experience with taking 9-10 or more APs in one year? I want to make sure I can get 4s and 5s instead of getting 2s and 3s... Thanks.

It depends on the APs. Post what you’re taking.

Do 8 AP exams count?

I did 10 this year; it sounds like a daunting number, but it’s actually not as bad as it seems (one 4 and nine 5’s).

@iwaitz4u- AP psych, AP stats. APHG, AP Calc BC, AP Econ Micro, AP Econ Macro, AP chem, AP lit, AP comparative gov, AP us gov/APUSH/both. I know that pysch, stats, APHG, and comp gove are easy… but would 10ish be possible?
@314159265- yeah, sure. 8 counts :)

Are you taking classes for any of them? What’s your reason for taking them besides “I should take a lot of APs”? If you’re like a lot of people here and aiming at top schools they don’t accept a lot of APs. Dropping a test or two which you don’t need won’t hurt your application.

Lit, Psych, and US gov are all relatively easy… I might drop some of the harder ones… APUSH, Chem, and Calc are require a lot of dedication.

Which ones are classes and which ones are self-studies?

I know soo many people who got into hyp with only 2-3 ap tests by junior year. Why are you creeps doing this? do you guys just like to be nerds?

I’ve done eight in one year. It wasn’t tough so long as you spaced out studying. None were self-study, though.

1asdfghjkl, I took them because I knew that I would get bored in the non-AP classes and be even more inclined to act upon my senioritis.

ok, so I am taking AP Calc BC, AP Econ Macro, AP Econ Micro, AP psych, AP stats, APHG, AP chem, and AP lit in school… the rest (govs and APUSH) I am gonna self study. And the reason I am doing this is to give my self a challenge. I have never really challenged myself, and now I want to…
@1asdfghjkl- jealous?

Are you going to be a senior or a junior?

APUSH will be a time-consuming self-study. I don’t recommend it since you’re already taking a full courseload. Chem and lit will be timesinks as well. Anything is possible for exceptional students, but since I haven’t seen your posts before, I’m not sure if you’re an exceptional student or just a very bright one. Either way, best of luck!

I’m planning on taking about 10 AP Exams this year:
-Physics C
-Lang and Comp
-Calc AB
-French
-U.S. History
(self-study)
-Chem
-Macro and Micro
-Statistics
-U.S. Politics (maybe)

Advice: Start early (as in NOW)

@robodl95- I will be a senior.
Anyone have any suggestions on when to start self studying? March? It seems like alot of u guys are saying that APUSH isnt a good self study. So is there another one that I should replace it with?

lol im not jelous. i go to yale… i just think that you guys take this overboard… i mean i had 7 aps by junior year and some people have like 15… im telling you this for ur own well being. go talk to girls it will help u more.

^lol, then why did you just make a thread about ACT prep lol

^^ So your assuming that everyone here is a guy. lol I am a guy, but I’m just saying…

@raza68 - If you’re a senior, then why are you doing this?

I took 11 AP exams this year, and I have a great social life and a great girlfriend. If you can’t balance it, you’re just not cut out for it. It’s okay, there’s no shame in that, but don’t assume that just because you can’t balance work and having a life that nobody else can.

@Technomusic- again, just so that I can give myself a challenge and learn some new things. I know it probably sounds stupid, especially since this is my Senior year…
