Greek-Hispanic American and Gay

SAT I: 1880 (I did poorly on the writing section, I plan on taking it again in November)
AVG: 93.14% (I don't know if its weighted or unweighted my transcript is odd)
ECS: Service for Guidance office, Service for Student Activities Office, NHS, Teens at Service (this year), Student Council/Government. Not much in the EC area. Community service will be done through Teens at service, which probably won't be over 100 hours.
Rank: My school doesn't tell me but I'd say I'm in the top 20 (not percent) in the school out of like 625 students in my class.
I'm extremely poor.

These are the colleges I'm applying to:
Pace University
CUNY Baruch
CUNY Hunter
CUNY Queens College
NYU (Far far reach, I'm just trying to see if I could've been accepted or not I doubt I would be able to afford tuition)
Saint John's University

Now that I see it all laid out there, I feel disappointed in myself. :(

So, what are my chances? Any suggestions on what colleges I should apply to?
Heres what I'm looking for in a College/Uni:
Nicely Sized City area in NY State. If out of NYC, must have great dorms aka private bathrooms (I'm not sharing a bathroom with more than 2 other people)

i think you can aim a little higher, you have great grades and decent sats

I'm already aiming pretty high (NYU) though thanks for the encouragement....I think my lack of E.C.s will kill me in the process

anyone else?

You could look at Union, Vassar, and others that are outside of the city, but far better schools if you want to stay in-state. Honestly, you'll get in to all of those schools, with NYU being a SLIGHT reach.

bump it up

i wouldnt usually bump but heres some new ECs that I joined this year (they just started this year)
GLASS Gay,Lesbian and Straight Society
Math Team for NYC

You aren't aiming high, you only have one school with selective admissions. One reach does not make a balanced list!!Get your SAT over 1900 if possible, 2000 would be amazing.

Schools would love to throw financial aid at you. I bet you would LOVE Vassar and its not out of the question given your rank. Also check out Hamilton (although it might not be the right fit).

Your list is too weak, you are selling yourself short.

The thing is that I'm trying to stay within the city.

nyu isnt as hard 2 get into as ppl make it out to be.... add ithica although its not in the city

If you're trying to stay in the city... try:

-Marymount Manhattan- Upper East Side,

-Fordham (campus at Lincoln Center)- catholic but probably liberal enough

-Eugene Lang (the New School for Liberal Arts)- Greenwich Village, very alternative-ed and liberal w/ only 800 kids (affiliated w. Parsons)

-Sarah Lawrence- in Bronxville: a 20 minute train ride from Grand Central. Again alternative ed but still a great school.

Does being gay help?

lol probably not^

ing * i can *ing only *ing make *ing one *ing post every *ing 60 *ing seconds how *ing *ed-up is that??? ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why bother posting that you are gay then?

ATTENTION MAN-WHORE?

εισαι μαλακα~ :) harvard ειναι σκατα, και εσεί ειναι....φασ σκατα

btw δεν καταλαβαινω ελληνικα

I finished applying to all the colleges I could
Pace University
CUNY Honors Baruch
NYU - Stern
Saint John's University
Long Island- Brooklyn Campus

Do I have a chance at CUNY Honors Baruch? I REALLY REALLY want to get into that school, everything about it just seems perfect to me. The location, the faculty, the buildings, just everything!

We found out our ranks since I've posted this, my rank is a dismal 25.

I would've applied to two more universities (Fordham and Cooper Union) but the person in charge of sending in my applications with fee waivers made me feel so horrible about using so many fee waivers.

anybody out there have insight on the CUNY Honors program?

your rank isnt dismal splooshy and omfg damn your GPA is soooooo good!! mine is SOO BAD I feel so embarassed, its not even a 90 :( goshh.

I think its too late to be joining any more clubs / ECs that would make a huge difference in your stats! I think the strongest part of your stats is your GPA.

Any SAT IIs or APs?

AP English Lit
AP US History 3
AP Psychology 2
AP Government
AP Calculus AB

ahh! lol you are like everywhere diana!
You go to a really competetive school I'm sure your rank is really high.
Yeah much too late for the ECs.

I got new SAT scores since my previous post, uhh 1880 AGAIN! ahhh! Just each individual score changed. I'm glad schools aren't looking at the writing score this year though, without it have I have 1340.
