I was curious what parents thoughts on Rush and Greek life in general was. I was taken aback by freshman being allowed to rush so early in the year and I was really surprised about the dues and other fees. I have also read that ECU Greek life has had alot of issues…doesn’t sound very safe? Thoughts?
My daughter rushed a sorority at UNC Sept. 2018 of her freshman year. She has loved Greek life and has maintained her GPA. The issues facing Greek life are no different than that of all college freshman, although I cannot speak specifically to ECU. I know the University has suspended several chapters at both schools over the past few years. The fees at UNC are middle of the road. It is much less expensive at schools without houses and much more expensive at schools with huge Greek communities like Bama and Ole Miss. Her sorority requires a meal plan and has social activities weekly. They have also done a lot of volunteer work and intermural activities. My son is applying to ECU for 2020 and plans on rushing.
