Hi, I'm really interested in Wake Forest and am going to apply there ED, but my friend's sister goes there and told me that it's REALLY difficult to get into a sorority/fraternity and a lot of people don't make it. She also said that if you don't get into a sorority/fraternity then there's nothing social for you to do.
I was really interested in joining a sorority, so it's not that I'm not worried about how greek Wake is, it's just that I'm concerned about getting into one - is it really that difficult? And what happens if you don't get in one?
It'd be great if a current student could answer this, thanks so much!!

I would not say it is difficult to get into a sorority - I would also not say it is easy to get into your top choice of sorority. It is like most other things: some are easier to get into others. If your concern is getting into a sorority in general, I would not be overly concerned. If you concern is getting into your number one choice of sorority and nowhere else, than maybe this would be a bit of a cause for concern.

That being said, we are getting another new sorority next year (Kappa Alpha Theta) so there will be even more spots than usual.

Also, I am a Greek girl so I can answer any other questions you may have if you would like to post them here, or PM me. I, however, always refrain from answering questions about specific organizations, especially if they are subjective questions.

To address your second question, if you do not get into one, nothing really happens. One of my best friends here isn’t in a sorority. I bring her to some of our date functions and mixers and whatnot … she can still go to parties, fraternity date functions, etc. Being in a sorority opens many doors socially, but not being in one doesn’t mean you can’t have any fun.
