Greek Life Help?!

I am a newly admitted student into UCI as a transfer and have 2 years to make the most of a college life so I want to join a sorority but know NOTHING about the greek life.

What the different sororities based on?

Do they cost a lot?

Do they have a sorority house or can I live separately?

Is there a specific one you would recommend for a Poli Sci major trying to get into law?

Are they great networking ideas or is the stereotypical view of sorority girls true?

Also, do they have hazing or is that a stupid stereotype too?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, so anyone with any experience or knowledge please let me know what I should do.

Honestly, CC isn’t the best place to get advice on greek life. Greekchat.com is a much better source for information. That being said…I’m in a sorority at Indiana U, so I can give you some statements:

-They’re based on a set of values and principles, as well as philanthropy and academics. Although they’re all ‘different,’ their values are very similar.
-At my university, sororities are = to or slightly cheaper than a year in the dorms.
-Depends on the campus
-No. Phi Alpha Delta is useful for pre-law majors, however, they are not a social sorority.
-Stupid stereotype
-Yet another stupid stereotype

Like I said…go to greekchat and search for UCI and do your research!
