Future freshman class of '16, interested in rushing. What are the different sorority reputations? Greek rank is so biased and unreliable. Looking for real-life reps of each one (as objective as you can get). Thanks

Ya Im also interested in this, but have no experience with them bc I dont start there until fall 2012 as a junior. any info on this will be good, but like she said please keep a level of objectivity. Also what is it like living in those houses. jw

oh part b and c: are the parties good? and what is there to gain on a professional level?

Hi! I am going to be a sophomore and I am not in a sorority, but plan to rush as a second year after kind of getting a feel for each house for a year before rushing.
Each house is completely different from what I have experienced so it all kinda depends on you, but I can tell you each houses rep.

Alpha Phi: They used to be better, but their newest pledge class brought them down and they do not get along with any of the other houses. Every time I have seen them at a party or on campus they have not been the most friendly. They were on social pro all of last year for hazing.

Pi Phi: Known as one of the top houses. Kind of has a stoner/laidback rep. Mostly nice from what I have experienced. Some are really stand offish. I rarely see them at parties. Most of them are pretty attractive. Hard house to get into. I had a few classes with their freshman girl and they all seemed to have the same exact personality.

Theta: They kind of have a bad rep because of their freshman class for sleeping around a lot, but they are a pretty good house. Party a lot. Whenever I have had interactions with them they were very cliquey. They are really close to Phi Sig.

Delta Gamma: Known as another top house. Their rep is kind of valley girls. Most of them that I met have been really nice, except for a few (the seniors that just graduated). The only thing about this house is that they are super intense with pride for their house, I guess can be taken as good or bad. But whenever I go out I see them all the time. Their freshman pledge class was one of the strongest last year. My roommate is in this house and she loves it. Also a difficult house to get into.

Alpha Chi Omega: Known as the hard partiers. Whenever I have seen them they are usually very drunk. Seen as a middle house.

Kappa Kappa Gamma: Known as the quiet/not very social house. The girls that I have met though have been very nice. Another middle house.

I do not know much about the other houses! Sorry.
But the frat parties I have been to are the best in IV. The only reason why I went to them is because I would go with my roommate who is in a house. If you’re not in a house you usually just walk down IV and go to random parties, that are not as fun or crazy as the frat parties.

but for more info, you can just google ‘UCSB Pi Phi’ or ‘UCSB Delta Gamma’ etc and check out their websites.
Hope that helped!!!
