I am going to be an incoming junior and I want to know what are the best sororities on campus? I am going to join one in the fall and want to have some sororities in mind before I start. So which are the best sororities and why? Which are the worst and why? Are some sororities more selective then others?

To be honest, I would steer clear of Greek life at this school. The sororities are known for hazing and abusing their pledges especially the underground ones. They contribute very little while in the way of philanthropy or community service. Their focus is mostly on partying. You can make friends without having to deal with Greek Life nonsense.

For years parents wrote to the administration expressing their concern about Hazing and horrid abusive situations and Binghamton University administration wrote back and denied any problems. But that was a lie that finally was revealed. And so were the emails of desperate parents begging Binghamton University administration to protect their sons and daughters. I’ve been thinking about it and there can’t be hazing going on in EVERY sorority. I mean nowadays there is hazing going around every where. Are there any sororities at Binghamton that have been known to haze in the past? Any sororities that are known where real down-to-earth girls go to? I am going to be cautious when it comes to rushing (if I rush) and I just want peoples opinions (preferably from people in greek life) on which ones I should look into.

I’m the president of one of the sororities at Bing and I can promise you a lot has changed in regards to hazing after the news articles from 2012. I know for a fact my sorority does not haze because that is illegal and not a way to treat future sisters. Ok cool I will look into it! What about Alpha Epsilon Phi and Delta Phi Epsilon? Are they good sororities too? Haven’t hazed in the past? I was looking into Sigma Delta Tau but I noticed they were on probation. Was it for hazing or something else?

I know some pretty down to earth people in Aephi. Don’t know about the others. But I did realize I know a lot more people in SAEPi than I thought before, they’re all really great.

Thanks rebeccar! There’s nice girls in all of them… I would wait until you get to school and meet a few girls to see who you feel you fit in best with. All new member processes are different and I can only really speak for SAEPi and say that we definitely don’t haze!
