How big is Greek Life at Lafayette?
Per the school’s website about 35% of students are in Greek Life. If someone wants Greek Life it is there, but it is also easy to spend 4 happy years at Lafayette without any involvement in Greek Life.
Once nice thing about Lafayette is that there is no freshman rush. Nobody can pledge a sorority/frat until sophomore year. This gives students time to cement friendships outside of Greek Life, get involved in other activities on campus, and get a better sense of Greek Life on campus and what/if any sorority or fraternity appeals to them etc.
I was surprised when my D pledged a sorority but it turned out to be a positive in her Lafayette experience. It is not all-consuming and she is involved in many other things on campus. And she has plenty of friends who chose not to pledge.
