Is there any point to joining a sorority/fraternity at NYU if you’re pre-med? Whats the point of greek life exactly? (asking out of true curiosity bc we don’t have that in my culture). Does it help your graduate school resume?
We have a pre-med frat!!! I’m not in it because I’m not pre-med but one of my friends is and he loves it! It’s essentially just a fun community of people all working on a pre-med degree to support each other, afaik. They can also help prep for the MCAT/med school apps/internships/etc. The rest I can’t tell you much about, only that it’s not super prevalent at NYU unless you want it to be–if you’re in it, it’s big in your life, but if you aren’t it’s not. And lots of people in it are also involved in other stuff. It’s basically just a community to make friends and have each other’s backs, as far as I can tell. If it interests you I’d definitely check out our pre-med frat Phi Delta Epsilon.
edit just to clarify that PhiDE is a coed frat, it’s a fraternity but it accepts women
