Greek Life

How can I get involved with Greek Life? Do I have to wait until second year? What is the process?

You only have to wait a semester.
Rushing takes place in the spring.

Rush at UR only takes place during the spring semester. Shortly after you return to school in January, there will be a general meeting sponsored by the Panhellenic Council for everyone interested in rushing all frats and sororities. The rush process and its rules will be explained at the meeting. You will sign your intent to rush statement.

But the frats and sororities have activities–some of them open to the public-- starting early in the fall.

how much do frats at UR cost does anyone know?

Every sorority/frat sets its own dues. Some frats cost more than others. Some include national dues when they charge their local dues; some don’t, so there will be required additional costs besides the local chapter dues.

And the dues vary by class. (IOW, pledges’ dues are higher than upperclassmen’s dues.)

Generally, expect to pay several hundred dollars each year. More if you live in the house.
