Hey, anybody know where the little green squares went? Not that I care - I thought they were rather stupid, but just wondering if anyone knows the story behind them.

Saxlady - who no longer has a distinguished aura about her.....

There was something posted about changes to the CC forum, so looks like the squares were a casualty!

Here you go:

Thank goodness - I thought the whole idea was ridiculous. I think most of us are quite capable of knowing who the Senior Member posters are who helps us out a lot - like both of you, Mezzo’sMama and SimpleLife!

^I didn’t like the idea either. Dumb.

A bunch of very clever, green-square-seeking parents started a few threads shortly after the system was created to break the code and repeatedly reward each other with more and more little green squares. It took some creative teamwork. The threads were rather funny to read as together they discovered nuances of the system and then made adjustments to help each other out. It became more of a popularity contest than the form of recognition it was designed to be. Duh! lol

Most (all?) of the parents with bunches of green squares were frequent visitors and contributors to the Parents Cafe. If you were to go there and read any basic thread on any topic, nearly every one of them had dozens of little green squares under their name! Kind of funny. (I didn’t partake but occassionally read along and watched it all unfold.)
