An Helen Keller moment in the making!

Number 1 & 2 I could do without.

Totally agree, Romani… but maybe it won’t be too obnoxious… :(

After my experience with the “new and improved” Common App this fall, I am feeling not very excited about any changes.

Anything to do with facebook is obnoxious. Not happy.

I had thought I was doing a good job of keeping up with the goings on here until I read “You’ve heard the rumors—”

Actually, no. I had not heard the rumors. Where does one go to get that sort of advance scoop?

Will new and improved result in fewer of the above?

Probably–everyone who hates FB won’t sign in as often.

Yes! Finally I can have my dancing bear animated gif avatar! My post will have much more (57% more) gravitas when I use the dancing bear gif….who can argue with a dancing bear?!!

I don’t want to be any more integrated than I already am. It’s already creepy that I see my posts on my kid’s Naviance account.

I am hoping that the frequent ‘server too busy’ message today are a temporary problem related to behind-the-scenes work of updating the site, b/c some of these features sound as though they will consume more bandwidth and the site already struggles w/o these added features.

CT1417, it will be a new bulletin board provider altogether. The old software was clunky, and the new site should work better, or so we’re told! You’re right - the tech people were busy with the new site and couldn’t address the busy server messages.

I don’t recall being asked what changes are desired. Anyone else?

I don’t see any of these new changes as being all that appealing. I would like to see more than 50 saved private messages, and easier quoting of previous posts in a thread. Otherwise the site is pretty good as is.

One issue I have is using the forums on my android. I find just using a regular internet window is easier than the CC app. However, on my phone, each page needs to load twice. I click a thread, it loads, then reloads. Very annoying, though I’m not sure if this is an issue with CC or just my phone.

Thanks Maine. I really shouldn’t complain as it is free and I have learned an awful lot from the posters on this site.

I don’t like change! :frowning:
I’m sure I can handle it, but still…

I’ve been on many message boards, I actually like the simplicity of this one a lot. The only thing I sometimes would like is an easier way to link to pictures.

If the answer was that a deeper integration with Facebook and having access to an avatar were positives, chances are that the focus group had an average age well below mine. Considering that I have been a puppy among this older and more mature, I think that few if any above 18 years of age were polled.

Things do change. I, for one, needed months to get used to the new 2004 software. I missed the simplicity of the old forum. Now, I would hate to go back! So, perhaps, the new version will have the same effect. Hate it, despise it, get used to it, and like it a lot more than the new.

And, if all fails, hating the new software might finally give me the impetus to leave this addictive place. And, in fact, the success of a forum like CC should be based on having new blood, new ideas, and new people replacing the old(er) and stale contents and participants.

Whatever is coming is bound to make my blood boil. Hence, my comment about Helen Keller being punished by her parents through rearranging the furniture and not telling her.

We’ll see. Or perhaps, we won’t see many changes. :)

" chances are that the focus group had an average age well below mine"

Those 18 year olds who can’t buy a darn thing on their own seem to rule demographics war for all advertisements too.

Just in time for the demise of fb.

[Facebook like an infectious disease, will lose 80 percent of users, says Princeton study - NBC News.com](Facebook like an infectious disease, will lose 80 percent of users, says Princeton study)

^LOL, no the ads are all targeted from links I’ve clicked on. Can’t complain about that one!
