I'm a medical student from Croatia and very interested on transfering to Stanford university of medicine.
Can anyone please tell me is trasfering possible?
I was reading something about admission for foreign students and it says they must attend one year on some college in US or Canada.i don't understand why.
I'm already attending university of medicine and have finished all basic and pre-clinic classes.
help needed.
thank you.

It is nearly impossible to transfer into US medical schools from even other US medical schools. I'm guessing it is much harder for foreign medical students.

You could, however, do a rotation with Stanford in preparation for applying for a residency there.

I would not, however, get your hopes set on any particular residency program. They are all very selective and the odds of being admitted to any given one of them is extremely difficult.

I have never heard of people transfering from a foreign medical program recently. In the past, when new medical schools opened they sometimes accepted students small number from foreign schools (usually US citizens)for the 3rd year (clinical year, not basic science years) as transfers because they wanted to have their programs ready for their newly admitted students. I have never heard of foreign students transferring to the 2nd year. The best bet is TOlook for a new US medical school not Stanford.
