BESIDES GREAT ACADEMICS the school should have.....

5.THE SCHOOL SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING ABOUT IT BESIDES "JUST GOOD ACADEMICS"
6.student body should be "pretty". (which one has a better looking student body?)
7.The school should definitely be creative
8.The school should push me to my full potential
9.The school should have great job opportunities afterwards for international students
10. professors should be encouraging.
11. student life is engaging. (which has a better student life)

**Carleton is near minneapolis. So does the social life become good then?
Academically which one is better.
I heard carleton has really bad looking student body and grinnell has misfits of society. what the hell is that. is that even true?!!

The schools are quite similar. My son applied to both (and 8 others), we visited and re-visited both and my son really liked them both. In the end, he chose Grinnell because it just felt like the best fit--quirkier, I think. Both of the schools are academically excellent, warm (not the weather, but the people), friendly and bursting with interesting activities. Both are highly regarded by graduate and professional schools and by employers. I can't speak to the International part, but both schools highly value study abroad. Both have great profs and small class sizes.

Grinnell and Northfield are both small towns. Carleton runs buses to Minneapolis on weekends, but my impression is that most students at both schools tend to stay on campus most weekends because there are lots of activities and they want to hang out with their friends. I don't know what you mean by a "good" social life. The students at both schools certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I agree with bethievt. Last year I was in a similar decision: Grinnell vs. Carleton. Utlimately I chose Grinnell because it felt right for me (quirkier). In terms of misfits of society, I would say that each grinnell student is unique and has passions in different areas. If you consider that a misfit, than so be it. I have loved my first year at Grinnell and it has been the right decision for me. Everybody is friendly and it is an extremely cohesive environment to learn in. Overall both Carleton and Grinnell are fantastic schools, I chose Grinnell because it felt right.

Wow - you don't sound like a fit for either school. I don't know too many Carlton or Grinnell students who had "pretty student body" in their top 10 criteria.

hmmm snorky wat r u saying lol

probably that it is the sort of superficiality that maybe isn't driving the college choice of kids who choose a school like grinnell or carleton!

Exactly - most of the students I know who go to Grinnell and Carlton are substantial people and it's hard for me to believe that they selected their college based on whether or not the students were pretty. I didn't mean to imply that the students aren't pretty - since I have a student there, I think they're gorgeous!
