groton, middlesex, & bbn. what do you think?

the title is pretty much self explanatory.
tell me all you know about these school
pros, cons, sports, student life, academics, work load, food, anything
especially if you are already in one of these schools!!!!!!!

thankya very much :)

this is going to sound stupid, but whats bbn?

I was thinking the exact same thing hope.

Buckingham Browne & Nichols
It’s a hard private day school somewhere over the rainbow.

ooohhhh, no wonder ive only ever seen it 2ice

@ Hoping411: Buckingham Browne and Nichols (it’s a school, also ISL)

MIDDLESEX

Pros: kickass writing program, good sports, small school (close relationship with teachers, harder to fall through the cracks)
cons: small school (fewer types of social groups, impossible to keep a secret. mx is quite gossipy)

student life: idk, what do you want to know about it? dating? dorms? activities?

academics: awesome, demanding, but you can still have a life (exeter ahem)

work load is manageable if you’re organized

food depends. chicken parmesan and onion soup is DIVINE, there’s a well-stocked salad bar, sandwich bar, cereal section etc. (also a panini maker, popcorn machine, huge industrial toaster + selection f bagels and bread, etc). just don’t eat the mac and cheese.

and yes i’m a freshman :)

I know a bunch of people that go to BB&N.
Pros (from what I’ve heard): good language program, really great sports, well-written school newspaper, etc.
Cons: Bivouac (in my opinion), which is when the 9th grade for two weeks goes to a camp and has to live in tents without plumbing and stuff. Also it starts at kindergarten so there will be some kids who will have known each other for years.

Student Life: uhh, I hear it’s a good school socially. Parties apparently can get rather crazy. You know.

Academics: Fantastic, but work load is manageable.

Food: AMAZING. I used to go to the summer camp and the same people that make the food during the school year did so for us. It’s really good. So many choices too. I always ended up taking too much and not being able to finish.

Have you thought about Governor’s??

dating? dorms? activities?-> all of those hah.

Whoa thanks everyone :]
not really looking for anything specific - just like… stuff.
but thanks!

I’ve heard of Governor’s… don’t really know much about it. But I can’t apply to any more schools now since I already gave my teachers the forms. And they HATE THOSE THINGS. THey complain about how much work they have in front of my face. So I don’t think they could stand another school :(

I know where BB&N is. Did you already take the SSATs yet?

yupp i did.

groton academics are rumored to be BRUTAL… i have no personal knowledge of it though.

dating: people date. people hook up. any specifics?

dorms: some are good, some stink. once again, specifics.

activities: there are generally activities planned on weekends, plus busses to either alewife station or the burlington mall.

Is Middlesex hard to get in for someone applying as a freshman boarder?

In terms of academics, Groton is brutal compared to Middlesex or BB&N. No doubt about it. I myself went to Groton and have siblings/cousins who went to MX / BBN
