I'm revisiting Groton on 7th! I'm pumped! Go zebras!

Still waiting to hear from Groton. Lost the electronic login codes and too embarassed to ask them to resend. S got waitlisted at Deerfield and rejected at Exeter. In at NM and waitlisted at Guvs. I'm not encouraged at this point which is too bad because I think Groton is a phenomonal school and is probably our first choice.

Anyone care to opine if we have a chance before the mail comes with the verdict tomorrow?

i got into the third form too!

i got the full scholarship plus more :D

i'll see you other third formers in september!

Foreverfbr GREAT NEWS!!!!!

any chance of a swim team???

As far as a swim team, Groton does not have one technically, although we do have a FSA (faculty sponsored activity - you may do one instead of a sport) swimteam.

I also can’t help but insert a quick recommendation to any and all who were lucky enough to be accepted into Groton to go here. I ended up coming simply based on size (Applied to Exeter, Andover, and Groton; got into them but preferred Groton’s small community size by far), however it has ended up being a fantastic first year. I previously attended one of the top private day schools in the country, but my experience simply cannot compare. As a word of warning, however, grade distribution is very different from most places. While grades do have a large range, the average distribution from the mean is fairly low, so it is very difficult to achieve “top” grades. This is coming from someone who has done reasonably “well” by Groton standards, and excellently before (ex: 99 percentile in the SSAT). You will have to work a TON, but it really is a lot more interesting and rewarding, as strange as that sounds coming from a student, than wherever you were before. Understand that Groton is very tough on you sometimes, but with these small blips excepted, school is an incredible and extremely fun experience. I’m certainly glad I came here.

I’m applying as a third former for the September 2010 year and I’m a day/boarder applicant. I got in the 85th percentile for the ssat and was just wondering if that’s good enough to get in. I really loved Groton when I visited it and it’s my first choice so I would appreciate any opinions (current/former groton students especially):)

what is groton like? Like people/personality wise? what should i wear to an interview there

I don’t get what the forms mean…I heard a lot of people talk about third, fourth forms when they apply to Groton or get in.

Forms are grade levels. 8th grade is 2nd Form, 9th is 3rd, and on up to 6th Form, (12th grade).

Do u have to be REALLY good to get in or does any above-average student have a chance?

We had an interview one month ago. I suggest that you wear “formal” suit or dress. The tour guide student is very nice. You have better prepare some questions to ask. Otherwise, the interview sometimes would be short that I think the interviewer won’t remember you afterwards.

Is anyone out there who could answer some questions about the newspaper? Any staff members?

Any current Groton students/parents on this board?

I have just applied as a 2nd form. I got very good scores on my SSAT’s (2073 out of 2100) and in the 99 percentile for math. I play soccer five days a week, I do drama and get lead roles, and get all A’s. I participated in the Rachel’s Challenge program for my school. I also play the Clarinet and Piano, I’m pretty good at both. I am applying as a day student and live in Groton. What are my chances?
