Of the east coast schools, I have only applied to Exeter, and it will most likely stay that way. Although I like Groton very much, they accept only four people for junior year entry. Do a lot of people apply?

Just to be clear: I am a fifteen-year-old applicant going for junior year entry.

Did you get in? I want to apply for Junior year aswell and I know it is very competitive, but I can’t be a repeat because I would already apply to be a repeat. Does being a repeat affect anything?

@stargirl3 Thank you! Are you applying to boarding schools aswell? Or do you currently go to one?

@DreamPink I was waitlisted at Groton for 8th grade, that was the only school I applied to.

Applying as a repeat 10th grader might increase your chances of admission simply because they have more 10th grade spots. It might hurt your chances if you need FA because the school might not want to pay for an extra year.

FYI, My daughter applied to schools as a repeat 9th grader this year and was awarded >90% aid.

We did not address repeat/not repeat with all the schools she applied to, but the ones where it WAS discussed ALL said that her chances of getting in with aid were better applying as a repeat.

As always, YMMV.

Ah, I stand corrected. :)

Thanks everyone for all the info! However, I am an international student and somewhere in this blog I read that there is not much FA for international students. Also, due to the fact that I am an international student, I only have two choices, either e a half repeat, or a double repeat, and my chances of being a half repeat are already gone because they don’t accept applications for senior year. So although this was one of my dream schools, I am not very positive it will come true :(

Well, if anyone is applying good luck with applications!
