I am a U.S. citizen living abroad and have been accepted to the GSP program with the freshman year in florence. However, if I decide to attend NYU and do GSP, I would really like to start the program in New York. Do you think it would be reasonable to call the admissions office and ask them if I could start the freshman year of the GSP program in New York instead of Florence?

its definitely worth a try. they may not let you, but just explain things to them and see what they say. definitely always worth a try.

I visited the Florence GSP program over Winter Break. It is amazing. You stay at an idealic Italian villa. In the distance, you see beautiful Tuscan mountains. You get to experience Florentine culture. The class sizes are smaller than they are at NYU. The student body is smaller than the NYU student body. There are so many wonderful things about the Florence GSP program. I'd be happy to field questions.

Where are most of the students from? Is it easy to make friends there? How hard are the classes?

Most of the students are international students who are attending Florence-GSP for their freshman year instead of NYU, or regular NYU students doing a semester abroad. It's probably easier to make friends there than on the normal NYU campus because Florence GSP has an actual campus, a significantly smaller student body, and smaller class sizes. I did not attend a class. There were none in session. However, I imagine that they are just as hard as any NYU class. I was placed under the impression that they are very enriching. Apparently, some European guidance counselors tell their students to apply to be in Florence GSP for their first year because the program is so excellent.
