According to Tech, all programs are treated equally in admissions, and your major has no impact on their decision. Tech admits you to the entire institute, not a specific program like other schools (e.g. you can be admitted to UC Berkeley but not to the UC Berkeley College of Engineering).

Also, just to throw it out there: Management is a 1st tier program and the top school in the state, so it’s in demand. In addition, approximately 67% of management graduates originated in engineering, so Tech doesn’t need to admit too many MGT freshman.

Ok. Thanks Burdell. While you might still be looking at CC, do you know when the Application for 2010 admissions will be out? The site says mid August but obviously its not out yet.

No idea. You might want to call the Admissions Office.

Can somebody explain to me double majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering? I’m kind of confused by how the GT website explains things. I noticed a few Master/Phd programs and also noticed that the general courses for both are exactly the same (unless I misread). So could somebody explain whether its just that the electives that are different? Or is there something else that I’m missing or misunderstanding?

Does GIT offer dual major or major+minor in Biomed engineering + Japanese Language? I know they offer both but I’m not sure if I will be allowed to do both if I get accepted/decide to go. Also, if you guys know anything about the Biomed and Japanese language programs it would be great if you could describe them :)! I will have taken Jpnese AP by graduation and I have already taken many science + math APs.

Also, hows the social/party scene? Should I be expecting Lan parties or frat parties?

You can double major in Biomedical Engineering and International Affairs and Modern Languages with a concentration in Japanese. The issue is how long do you want to take to earn your bachelor’s degree? The combination of these two majors means you’ll be in school for 7 years for your first degree, even with the AP credits.

You can major in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Japanese much more practically. If you already speak Japanese (I assume you do because of AP Japanese), the degree requires 15 hours, 10 of which can be picked up as part of the Biomed degree, so you are only adding 2 classes onto a typical Biomed undergraduate program (probably no extra time at Tech).
