Guaranteed Transfer Policy ???

Hey,......I'll be attending UCSD this fall and my major is Mech engineering (if i change it will b sum form of engr)......I didnt apply to Cornell due to only 1 reason :

FINANCIAL AID.....

I wanted to try and and transfer to Cornell so i have a few quetions:

1) do u get good need based AND merit based aid at Cornell for transfers?

2) does cornell have a guranteed transfer policy(like they make me sign a contract stating that if i maintain a certain minimum GPA I can transfer in so n so year ?

3) is there a specific year in which u have to transfer to cornell (minimum credits?) ?

4)Do I have any chances of gettin in if my high-school stats are counted too(say if i transfer after fresman year) ????

my stats:
SAT1:2140
SAT2:PHY:720,MATH2:700
EC'S: pretty good,school magazine editor,school fest organiser,city quiz champ,marchpast, etc

any info would be really appreciated :)

I would like to know too...

Alright here's my take on it. I'm probably wrong, so correct me. None of the ivies offer merit based aid, just need based. They will meet any need that you have. Guaranteed transfer is when you apply as a freshman but get deferred and they offer you a chance to transfer after a year. I think you need at least 15 credits to transfer. Your test scores look good. If you have a decent GPA you should be a strong candidate. Keep your grades up next year.

you cant ask for a GT

Well i hadn't applied to any of the Ivies for fall 2006.......is it still possible to ask for a guranteed transfer??
Also my EFC according to FAFSA was zero......will cornell actually give me COMPLETE aid for ALL 4 years ? (including living n boarding, food etc. )
Can i apply to cornell for my second year(i.e. fall 2007) or EARLIER too ??

Thanks for the input n awaiting sum more :)

You can't ask for a guaranteed transfer, you just have to apply for transfer for the school year you feel like applying to.

wow. FAFSA's EFC was zero?

but yeah. there is only need based (since everyone has merit, really) financial aid. and since your EFC is zero, you'll probably get a good financial package (i dunno about complete)

and since you didn't apply before, you can only try to transfer in. guaranteed transfers are given to some students (not all) who applied for admission in their freshmen year, from what i hear.
