Guess whaaaaat?

Okay... I'm a senior in high school which does not rank students. I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 20% of my class though.

I'm white, but both my parents are immigrants from Ireland (if that helps), but my mom went to college. I live in New York.

My Stats:
94.899 GPA weighted = 3.95 ?
unknown unweighted

SAT: 1300/1600 and 1930/2400
SATIIs: Math 2: 700 US History:570...

But I just took it again and am hoping I got at least 700 in the math section.

APs Taken:
World History -4
US History - 3
Chemistry - 2...

APs Currently Taking:
Stats
Calculus AB
Psychology

I am also taking English Honors, taking Spanish V and economics. I'll also be doing senior seminar next seminar where I'll intern somewhere; I hope to intern at a bank or someplace I can learn about business.

I've been playing soccer for my HS 4 years, am in the national honor society, I'm the secretary of the Science Honor Society, treasurer of the soccer club and I'm a delegate for the Student Organization. I'm also a member of the Spanish Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society). I am the sales manager of the Event Staff of our school plays and am responsible for calculating profits, expenses and such.

I've been working as a lifeguard since last November and was recently promoted to Pool Manager.

I've been an altar boy since 1998. I now am the leader of the altar servers and serve as their mentor; I teach all new servers how to serve. I also am an assistant teacher for religious education for 1.5 hours a week.

I want to go to a good school for business... My top choices as of now include...

Villanova
Binghamton
Boston College
Lehigh University
Colgate University
University of Maryland, College Park
Bentley College
Boston University
Babson College
Providence College
University of Scranton (safety)
Fordham University (not interested, but for mom)

Please tell me what you think my chances are like!

Thanks a lot.

Your 94.899 is actually about a 3.99 GPA and you should be in the top 5% of your school with that score.

Villanova - Match and possible scholarship
Binghamton - Safe Match
Boston College - Match to Slight Reach (closer to match)
Lehigh University--Match and some scholarships/grant money likely
Colgate University--Match to Slight Reach (small scholarship if accepted)
University of Maryland, College Park (OOS) - Match to Slight Reach (no scholarship)
Bentley College - Safe Match
Boston University - Safe Match
Babson College - Match (likely small scholarship)
Providence College - Safety to Safe Match
University of Scranton (safety) - agree, safety
Fordham University (not interested, but for mom) - Safe Match to Match

Best business schools of those listed above are (in-order):
Boston College/Babson (only in entrepreneurship, though)
then Villanova/Maryland/Fordham/Boston University/Bentley/Lehigh
then Binghamton
then Providence

Colgate does not offer a business major to my knowledge (LAC) and I'm not familiar enough with Scranton to rate their business program

Colgate actually doesn't offer merit-based scholarships, only need-based financial aid. While there isn't a "business" program, there is an incredibly strong Economics department, and students from every major have gone on to get their MBA or positions at prestigious financial firms in NYC. There's a very loyal and helpful alumni network as well.

Wow, Calcruzer... I didn't think I would have such great chances!

Thank you for the response, Lydia. Does anyone else have an opinion?

no one else?

come on guys....

I'd really appreciate it!!!

why is it so hard to get a chance IN A CHANCES THREAD? =(

Purely from a stats perspective, as I'm not totally familiar with all these:

Villanova- match
Binghamton- match
Boston College- high match-slight reach, though the well roundedness will help
Lehigh University- high match-slight reach
Colgate University- match
University of Maryland, College Park- match
Bentley College- match- slgiht safety
Boston University- definate match
Babson College- safe match
Providence College- safety
University of Scranton (safety)- safety
Fordham University (not interested, but for mom)- match

i think youll get into all of them. maybe a rejection or two but this isnt very likely

thanks all!

If you didn't know anything about half the colleges listed, would YOU try chancing someone? I don't think so. People chance profusely for colleges that are similar to the ones in their range and/or they have knowledge about. Like me, I don't have any familiarity with... 8 out of your 10 colleges.

Your GPA is pretty good, your SATs are above average, and your classes are nice. You have a solid chance at your schools.

thanks... and you'rew right... but what would this entire board be based upon, if we didn't ask people's opinions on matters they might know nothing about?

hey guys...

You've already got 3 people telling you you're in everywhere...so chill. You're in a lot better position with your schools than most of us can hope to be with ours.

Everyone worries about college. Maybe I just get more worked up.

You may. But what I'm trying to say is...you get worked up unnecessarily. Bumping your thread SEVEN times? Really.

buummmpppp!
