Guidance Counselor mistakes

My daughter applied ED to her first choice school which happens to be test optional. I sent her counselor an email and stated that she applied ED and that the school was test optional and to NOT submit her transcript with her test scores included because she was not going to use those. Well the counselor submitted those anyway and now I feel that her chance may have been ruined by this mistake. Any advice from others? The school said if she checked the box that she was not submitting test scores then they don’t include those in the file but now we feel this may have red flagged her app somehow. UGH not sure what to do at this point! Hoping for the best!

How do you know that?

At this point, that’s all you can do; you can’t unring that bell.

I know this because the counselor responded to my email apologizing that she had already submitted those to the school before reading my email. Apparently the university sent an immediate email to the counselor which she then said she read in the order they were received. I had no idea they sent this to the counselor because the app prompted my daughter to print out the required documents to take to the counselor to finish her portion before the app would be reviewed. This is all new to me since this is my first and only child to go through this process. Anyway I guess there’s nothing I can do now but it’s frustrating to say the least!

As long as her file is clear that she is applying test optional then I don’t think it will be an issue. Your D can always email the admissions rep and explain the situation (that transcript was sent with standardized testing) and confirm that her application will be reviewed test optional. I really don’t think this will red flag or jeopardize her application.
