My college mentor is sending everything by mail, but I was forced to put her down electronically on the Common App as I was submitting. On the email they send, does she have to notify Common App whether she's opting out of the electronic application? Problem is, she doesn't check her email AT ALL. So I don't know if it's really worth it to bother her and get her to check her email or to just leave it and let her do it by mail without telling Common App.

Don’t fully understand your question, but it is in fact okay for counselors to send everything by mail . . . so if she doesn’t check her email, should be okay, as long as she submits.

Do counselors send their letters to Common App, or to the individual colleges?

tchang - if you are at all worried about it, just delete your counselor from the online app and re-enter her without an email address. Common App will automatically assume that she is submitting via paper.

fatalimmunity - Your counselors and teachers need to send materials directly to the colleges to which you are applying. Don’t send them to the Common App!

^Thanks for that tid bit of info MacGyver! It really helped me out.

Thanks MacGyver. Do I need to make sure that my Common App is submitted to those schools before they receive the counselor rec?

fatalimmunity - Your counselor can send your rec at any time. Colleges know what to do with your materials if they receive the counselor stuff before your app.
