Guidance please

Hello, I'm a senior who is currently waiting for admissions decisions. Here are my stats:

Sat I: 710 V, 680 M
SatII: 710 US H, 680 Bio, 600 Writ.

AP's:
11th grade: US History 4, Biology 4, English Lang and Comp 3
12th grade: Physics, Calc AB, US Government, English Lit.

I have an unweighted cumulative of 90.05
Throughout High school I have takent the most rigorous possible courses available.

I have a very good film portfolio, and my films have shown at local as well as national festivals.

Many of my extracurriculars involve videomaking and media such as school TV station manager, but I am also in NHS, ASSETS committee,
Varsity Tennis, Marching Band, Advanced Wind Ensemble section leader, and I work for a magazine. I also speak Ukrainian fluently, and attended Ukrainian language school on weekends for 8 years.

I have applied to the Film program at:

NYU
Boston University
Emerson College

and I have applied to Vassar as well.

Could anyone please comment on what they feel are my chances at these schools? I'm unsure as to whether I should apply to a safety net in addition, and if so, could I get some suggestions of schools with good Film programs that you think I could get accepted into?

I think you are probably solid enough at BU and Emerson that you will be ok without a safety - unless you need one for financial purposes.

I think your acceptances at NYU and Vasser will be riding on your porfolio - good luck!

Why didn't you apply to USC?

What is your rank?

I wish I could have applied to USC, however my parents dont want me traveling that far of a distance from NY. My class rank is a bit of an enigma to me because I've heard conflicting numbers from my counselor. He did say however that it is at about the 20th percentile. I'd say that of all my stats, that one hurts me the most.

The reason why I've been so insecure is that I got rejected from Northwestern, and I feel as if I have no foundation to work from. I think that the college application process is pretty unhealthy for kids on certain levels. I know that when I got denied at Northwestern, it really felt as if they had reviewed me and my life as a whole, and deemed it insufficient for the university. Though I know that's oversimplifying a bit, alot of kids plunge into the application process without the right mindset to deal with such judgement. I know I was unprepared for it.

I was thinking that I should perhaps apply to SUNY Purchase as well?

bump......

"I know that when I got denied at Northwestern, it really felt as if they had reviewed me and my life as a whole, and deemed it insufficient for the university."

You know, Northwestern is really gradesy. If you'd really been grinding out the grades, you wouldn't have your porfolio, you wouldn't have the foundation of creative thought that you do now. I think you're ok - and I'm pretty cautious - but as Carolyn say, the old crystal ball is not 100% reliable. If you want to add another app to the pile for your own peace of mind, by all means, do so. Its something to do between now and April, anyway.
