Guide to an 800: Chemistry

Same here! @sjsharks

@sjsharks Can you make the released test link work?

Thanks so much for the advice! My only question is though is how do I access the released tests? It’s saying I do not have access to it and to log into an account that has eligibility to use this? Thanks!

do we need to memorize activity series or reduction potentials?

^Yeah, you need to be familar with the activity series and reduction potentials. At least that’s according to the Barrons tests…anyone else know about this? And can someone give access to the released tests since the real test is in a few days???

hi there, thank you so much for your advice!! it’s three days before the test and my practice test scores haven’t been improving (constant 740-780s with worrying drops to 640-680 alternatively) due to the fact that i run low on time and start panicking and making stupid mistakes and reading questions wrong.

i’ve noticed that it’s because i take a long time on questions that involve calculations and balancing equations because i lose focus when there’s big numbers or complicated reactions. so does anyone have any advice or strategies for balancing difficult equations quickly and efficiently?? i’ve been doing trial and error by plugging random numbers in and it never works! and for calculations, some of them don’t come out to an even number and produce a decimal. is there any way to calculate those problems quickly? thank you!

better off than me. i’ve had finals all week and started my SAT II review yesterday after the last day of school. Hopefully, stud(ieing)ying for the AP Chem final will help me lol.

thanks for the great advice! Now I feel good for purchasing Barron’s Chemistry in the first place!!! Already started studying way before the exam and hope I can score high!

How about IB Chemistry? Is it good for preparing for Chemistry subject test?

Posting this three years later… but I can’t access the released tests link. I would really appreciate if you could open up the access to the document, or share it with me.

when i searched online for practice tests in bio and chem i came up with tests that had some questions with material or words that do not appear in the Barron’s.
Is there a chance that in the actual test i will come across a word that does not appear in the Barron’s?

Hello, your guide is truly informative. I’ve had the same advice from everywhere and almost everyone. I’m a 12th grader in the Middle East, It was my first attempt at the SAT II Subject tests yesterday on June 4 2016. I bought and studied Barrons for Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. Hoping atleast one 800 out of the three  .
I even got good practise test marks in the four barrons tests for chemistry; ie:- 690, 780, 775 and 790.
However the real test was literally out of the book, i doubt I’ll even get a 600  . What do i study? and from which book?
I need to get into a top college and i need a 2400 badly :’/.
Any advice for physics and chemistry for better prep than solely barrons is highly appreciated.

What are the best prep books for chemistry?

Hi, I will be taking the SAT Chem in November this year and I’ve got a used Chemistry book from a friend. It’s Barron’s E-Z Chemistry. Is it sufficient to study from? Or should I get the Barrons SAT Chem 12th edition book and a PR book?

i cant access the released tests link. can anyone please help?
