Don’t be confused by my username, my name is Ashley and I’m a guy. I want the most social scene for friends and girls, best option, most fun etc. I don’t know how the food is on-campus? Or if Bursley is going to be social and worth it or if I am going to meet people even though I am off-campus. I plan on rushing.

I have a few options so far I am looking at. I can stay at Bursley in the Douglas House in a double (2 people per room). It will cost me $9,996 with a food plan and lasts 9 months.

I can stay at Landmark for $11,950 in a 6 bedroom, 4 bath with food and all utilities, cable, internet, etc. It’s all guy roommates and lasts 12 months. Worried about social scene and getting food…I don’t think there’s a grocery store around? Do a lot of people stay around in the summer?

I can stay at Varsity for $11,030 in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath with food and all utilities, cable, internet, etc. It’s all guy roommates and lasts 12 months. Worried about social scene and getting food…I don’t think there’s a grocery store around?

I would recommend staying on-campus freshman year. You meet the most freshmen that way and it’s easier to make friends. Also, the high-rises are a lot more expensive than they seem. The guys who work there will tell you it’s cheaper than the dorms, etc but there are many extra costs such as utilities and service fees if you were to lose your room key or something. Also, the rent does not include food while the on campus housing rates already include a meal plan. Looking at just the pictures online may make them seem well worth the extra money but in reality the rooms are small and the walls are pretty thin.

Unfortunately, Douglas House happens to be the only all-guys house in Bursley. The best you can do is hope that there is a girls’ hall adjacent to yours’. However, I believe the top floors are very loud and social. Even if your hall is unsocial, you can still meet people of your interests if you go out of your way as there are many community spaces where kids study and socialize right in the hall such as the Blue Apple and Community Learning Center. If you rush and decide to join a frat, you will not need to worry about the social scene in your dorm because chances are your frat bros will be your main group of friends.

The food at Bursley is decent. There are better dining halls on central but it’s not the worst either.

The only other rooms I see on campus that come up on self-selection are Northwood I and II which is either a studio or a 2 bedroom. Which is better, Bursley or Northwood I or II?
