I know I am new to these forums, but is AIOnline a legit school?
do you mean alabama online? i’ve never heard of AIOnline
Oh, the art institue. That really depends on what you want to get a degree in. In the arts you would be wise to get plenty of related field experience.
Here’s the best piece of advice I can give you…you should avoid for profit schools whenever possible. This is because they have a history of fraud and terrible care of their students in the United States. Lately a lot of them have closed which has left a lot of people high and dry with useless degrees. They charge high prices and offer high interest loans. If you are struggling financially you should NOT get a loan unless you know that you will be able to pay it off. If you have any opportunity of getting into a state school with an online program go for it, but you should keep the Art Institute as an absolute worst case scenario last resort.
I teach at AIPO. It’s NASAD accredited – which goes to show you that NASAD accreditation does not mean all that much. The school has very strict rules for faculty to student engagement. AIPO evaluates faculty each term and every year. If you don’t make the cut you are not hired to teach again. However, the design of their courses varies considerably. Some are quite well designed, others are poorly designed and the instructor cannot make changes. AIPO accepts anyone into the program. Fortunately 50% probably drop out by the end of a few courses. At the lower levels, the quality of students is all over the map. In the end you have mostly mediocre students graduating with mediocre portfolios and lots of debt. AIPO Is owned by EDMC. Google EDMC for more information.
Usually you want to make sure your school is Regionally accredited, not nationally accredited. Otherwise units don’t often transfer or are considered a good of a college.
What are you needs, goals and budget? Here is a list of reputable online college. This list is still in progress.

AIPO is an art college.
Hearing it for the first time.
I know someone who got her degree in graphic design from AI. She’s working full-time in her field, but she’s now embarrassed about whee he degree came from, especially since that school is now closing many locations and offering debt forgiveness. So I guess it depends. She got lucky but she told me that many of her fellow classmates remain unemployed.
