Gun to your head- am I in? yes or no

white male from the great state of Connecticut

no interview

3.75 unweighted GPA (senior grades AP History A-, AP Calculus A-, British Literature Honors A, Wesleyan Chem. A-). My school runs off the block schedule. 4 classes per semester with APs running the whole year. I have those three classes plus my Wesleyan class as the fourth.

ideal grade progression

1370 and 2070 on the SAT

15/190 class rank

All honors classes and 3 out of the 5 AP classes my schools has

I am a Wesleyan High School Scholar. Every other day I leave school and take "Principles of Chemistry I" there. I was accepted again for next semester, and I am taking "Principles of Chemistry II" next semester. I finished the course with one of the higher grades in the class with an A-/A. I am hoping they consider this because obviously Wesleyan is one of the best schools in the country, and it proves that I can succeed.

~40 hours of community service (probably the killer here)

Founder, former president, former vice-president, and current secretary/treasurer of the "Support Our Nation" Club

Founder and vice-president of the Tutoring Club

President and former treasurer of the International Culture Club

i'm not an adcom so it's just my opinion

no interview: not good
3.75: looks good
1370: not too bad
15/190: looks fine
Principles of Chemistry stuff: sounds really good
service: oh-oh
Club thingy: no harm to found some clubs... i don't know if it'd help much tho

I think u have a good chance to get in
urs is similar to my stats except that I did "ED" and had "yes interview, on campus"

I don't think the no interview is bad or anything. It's supposed to help you if you have one, but not hurt you if you didn't. Your SAT scores are a bit low, and the GPA's a bit low. Depends on your essays, but the other aspects looks slightly above average

Thanks for the responses. However, I am surprised about what you said about the SAT scores. I actually thought they were my strength.

Collegeboard's median 50% for WFU for critical reading is 610-690 putting me in about the 70th percentile. The median math is 630-710; again putting me in the 65-70th percentile.

Did you at least do a written interview? I know this year the interviews are important but I think you look good anyway.

Disagree with this assessment. D (current junior) was somewhat below both these stats.

Having added my $.02, I have to say I really dislike the title of this thread!

I agree with the above post.
If you had a gun to my head, wouldn't I be inclined to tell you whatever I think you want to hear??
Anyway, sorry my post isn't more helpful.

Your stats look good to me, but then again, I'm under threat of death, so...

honestly - the title of this thread makes me hope you don't get in! -

Sure, sure you'll get in! (backing away slowly....)

Where are you people from? Is this not a common expression in your state?

Um, no it's not, and even it it were ..

bosox, yes, I've heard the expression---meaning the person responding must answer truthfully, right?
I think your stats look fine--am judging on when my son applied in 2005--haven't kept up since then. His application year, none of the people he knew who applied did interviews--he didn't. I don't think the interviews (or lack of) will hurt you. I know they said they liked students to have visited the school.

in the south, no, i've never heard it used

Nor in Ohio

Heard it in the Cayman Islands! :p

I think you have a fairly good chance. Wake's application is really writing intensive (quick questions, interview - if written), so the better they are, the greater your chances. I honestly think they matter a lot. At least the quick questions, anyway. ECs are also very important for Wake - a couple more wouldn't have hurt your chances, but you're probably still ok.
