Guys at nursing

hey all. i’m wondering how many guys are at Penn Nursing, and if they’re happy or not. i’m a guy and i applied for nursing. i definetely wanna go to Penn Nursing, unlike some suckers who think they can use it to get accepted to Penn. well, whatever. tell me all you know. thanks

I heard that this year's freshmen class has "about 5 guys" out of 100 total.

Penn nursing is a great program for guys.......are you doing the joint program w/ Wharton? It is new. Are you aware of it?
http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/academics/interdisciplinary/jointdegree.cfm

i go to penn and everyone says that out of those 5 guys, 2 are gay and another 2 are also in wharton

Hey there Quaker buddy: why the mention of gay? How does that apply to this discussion at all? You are giving our school a bad name here. Nursing & Wharton or just nursing: gay has nothing to do with it. Lets hope you can leave that out of further discussions. I personally feel a great support and respect for Penn's School of Nursing: the whole world needs smart, accomoplished, well trained nurses of any sexual persuasion..

I went on the tour yesterday and at the info session, they said they liked to brag that two of the football players are in the school of nursing

oh comon, is it that wierd for there to be a guy nurse? i mean its the 21st century! get over it!

Let me think on this: many nurses do administration and many go on to medical school and become MDs. Whichever path they take it is an honorable and much needed profession. Penn has a fine nursing school. Do you make fun of women engineers or women in Wharton or Law.......I think not.

"Gaylord Focker."

i think its kinda cute lol.. i got in ED for nursing.. maybe well be nursing buddies

oh and p.s.. its not really an easy way 4 ppl to get in.. i think only 29/130 something were accepted early 22%

You are the inside track that CC has to this nursing school drama.

there was an article in the dp a few months ago that talked about how inaccurate the information that tour guides give out are, so they might be wrong on the football team info. I guess the sure way to go about it would be to get a penn facebook account and go through the whole roster. Sorry if you took offense at the gay remark, but it is noteable enough to mention that straight guys solely in nursing at penn are apparently rare. Hey if you're straight and in nursing, more power to you. You get all the ladies =D. And if you're gay, hey, I've got no problem with that.

I'm really sorry if you took my comment to be derogatory towards gays. It's really not trying to be.

Just to clarify, it wasnt my tour guide, it was a regional rep who said that. Are regional reps allowed to...falsify info?

MichaelJ: i think it's just useful information for a prospective student. we all have to be realistic. it's a stereotype (perhaps based on fact) that he'll have to deal with

it wasn't the tour guides "falsifying" info, really, just saying things that they believe to be true but aren't. I believe quoting the response times for blue-light calls (emergency phone booth calls) to be under 30 seconds was one example given (there is no set number).

wait, wouldn't you get more out of nursing than premed?

Just curious...

you could actually get a job with a signing bonus and a decent salary........which is a big plus. You could get practical experience and do really well in med school........and meet plenty of people who will help you out.

Think of it this way. Nursing classes = more chances to be surrounded by ladies.

Think about it.
