No, not really. There's a big difference between 10-20 lbs overweight and 40+ lbs overweight. It's really not that hard to lose weight, especially at a young age; it's called working out, and while you might hate it (I know I do), it's pretty much required these days to compensate for the average lifestyle unless you are blessed with a high metabolism. And it certainly isn't the "media's fault", because last time I checked most historically "beautiful" women weren't fat.

Although, I don't think it's really any better for men. Just like women, we can go about 10-20 lbs overweight (however, men vary much more in frame than women, so this actualy weight can be radically different for guys of the same height) and not be too bad, but once you get over that it's pretty unacceptable. For that matter, there are some guys who love fat women, but I can't say I've ever seen a woman who digs fat guys.

For guys I like the football player build: tall, muscular and maybe a few extra lbs but not fat because they have a bigger frame etc so it looks decent.. like Vince Vaughn. A big teddy bear :) lol I don't find skinny guys attractive.. about 50lbs more than me is great

Don't forget that on guys, the weight can be a deception. A football player, using conventional growth charts, would be overweight or possibly obese. However, his weight is in muscle.

I'm the same height as Chris Duffy, a Pittsburgh Pirates player, but he's got about 30 pounds more than me. However, he still looks okay because his weight is in muscle. While Duffy might show up as overweight on some charts, he would only be so if that 30 pounds was of fat. In that case, he would look, well, fatter.

Girls typically don't get as muscly as guys (if that's a word). Most girls with extra pounds have it in fat.

Do you guys think tall girls look better with bigger boobs or smaller boobs? Also, does an hour glass figure (including flat stomach and toned legs) look better than a boyish model figure or vise versa?

Don't know what the average weight is (probably much more than it should be... americans are fat) but a healthy weight would be around 120-130 more or less depending on build, amt of muscle, etc... weight doesn't really tell much because of these other factors (muscle weights 3x as much as fat etc)

Yeah, like I said, it really varies based on amount of muscle, bone structure, etc. 170 for a 5'6" girl though is not healthy unless you're a body builder or something crazy, which you're not

I'm pretty sure in this case we're talking about a girl but yeah it definitely depends on gender too

yes i know it is not healthy :p but being fat is worse for social reasons rather than health reasons when you are a teenager, no?

i try to move as much as i can, but seriously, no time. i've been taking karate for about a month and a half (three times a week, one hour each), and though there weren't that much fat loss, i feel a lot healtheir these days than i did two months ago. i actually enjoy sports (not running or whatever, but i love basketball, field hockey, etc), but i don't get to play them often so i'm really sad. no time to go to the park, no one to take me there because my parents are so busy and the nearest park is just. too. far.

yes, lame excuses. but hey, i need them. :)

It's really hard to buy the "no time" excuse, since running or walking for even 30 minutes of your day (30 minutes you spent on cc) would make a difference.

you are not thinking i do cc openly? noooo...but walking i can't do openly.

findaway: "yes i know it is not healthy but being fat is worse for social reasons rather than health reasons when you are a teenager, no?"

It may seem that way, however, the older you get the harder it becomes to lose weight. Then it does become rather unhealthy. Even as a teenager, being overweight has adverse affects on your health, especially if the weight is in part due to poor nutrition. The fact that you do karate is good, however something a little more aerobic such as running, swimming, bicycling for a period of time might be more beneficial.

Just wondering, what takes up so much of your time right now during summer?

bad excuse, I'm working from 4am to 3pm, going to school from 4pm to 7pm, and still have time to workout. And my job is not sit on a chair type work, its a tough job.

so my point is theres always enough time, atleast half an hour a day.
