GUYS, Please don't lie on your UC Application !!!!!!

Ms. Sun's UC Admissions Blog - This is Why You Don't Lie on Your UC Application

YOU WILL BE BANNED FOR LIFE !!

I saw this too! Its a big risk to lie. Thank god I didn’t. Phew

Oh, I got that as a freshman applicant. They do that for transfers too? lol…

Anyway, it’s no big deal. They just want some simple proof that you were part of a club or activity you said you were…even a simple club picture is sufficient. If you think you will have a hard time proving your involvement in something, you probably shouldn’t have put it down in the app…it probably wouldn’t have helped anyway. I admit though, getting the audit does add unneeded stress…

i think a lot of people worry about the actually time count. but it is not important.
for example: if you said you were in club every week 10 hours for 1 year… but your club only meet monthly.
i don’t think you have to prove the actually time you are in. just send some evidences that show your are in the club. that will be it.

Whoa in my personal statement I wrote about trying to join a volunteering program which I was, but the program director stopped emailing me and I guess the opportunity disappeared. I hope this won’t look like I was lying especially since I specifically avoided lying.

You’re fine don’t worry. As long as it’s nothing like “I volunteered 2,000 hours” in a year. It’s possible but they will be skeptical.

Or if they find out you had a very low GPA at a college that you didn’t include on your application… or something of that sort.

I’m gonna go back to review my application right now.
One thing I caught that I found weird was that I put yes in “certified for completion of the igetc” but I won’t be till spring, im not sure if it meant that i will be igetc certified. Did anyone else do that?

Thanks. I get kinda paranoid sometimes haha.

And also if you don’t have it completed by Spring…or summer, you’ll just have to finish it at wherever you’re transferring to.

Correct me if I’m wrong!

lol sorry if I scared the heck out of you guys. Take it easy :)

well i think since its already jan 11…if you haven’t received it. you will be considered “unlucky”
a friend of mine got it at jan 6

@^ received what, got what?

Was there an email saying we should update out fall courses? I did not get this email.

@Acoustickitty123

I assume you are referring to the Transfer Academic Update. I did not receive such an email reminding me to fill it out. But it’s there on the UC application site for the TAU.

I think this audit thing applies more to freshman applicants than it does to transfers, not that it never happens. But consider the fact that most of the UCs (save Berkeley, UCLA, and UCI) don’t even do holistic evaluations for transfer students that take into consideration areas like your extracurriculars, work experience, awards and achievements, or even personal statements, it doesn’t seem sensible for the UC system to divert resources to audit transfer students. The core thing admissions officers focus on is pre-reqs and cumulative UC transferrable GPA, the rest is basically tossed out or reviewed under distinctive circumstances.

HODORI

i remember that it specifically said that there was an option that states “igetc will be completed by spring” and i clicked yes. And once submitted it automatically states “igetc completed” which is not right. so im on the same boat but we will have it completed so who cares.

@KarmaGo: Yes! That’s what I mean  Thanks ferrari for this thread. It’s actually helpful.

Dang. This is heavy stuff. I’m still reeling over the fact that admissions officers have the time to conduct audits in the first place. There wouldn’t happen to be an honor system for this, would there…

I agree! I’m still in shock about the 3.5 tag for UCSD. Lmao
