@CollegeApplier57 I’m confused as what you mean by essay stats? Do we even see those? In any case, my GPA is a weighted 3.6 (freshman year it was a 3.9 and just went down along the years), 27 ACT, but what got me in was my essay and background. So, unless yours is killer, I’d think you need higher grades than mine.
@CollegeApplier57 My GPA is a weighted 4.4. I had a 29 ACT. I played varsity volleyball (and was a captain) and had some leadership roles as a recreational coach and volunteered 3 summers and 2 years at my local science center. I have worked for about half a year at a local burger joint. I did some mission trips as well. My best advice would be to make your essay show who you are as a person. Best of luck to you!!
me too!! @jake888
@CollegeApplier57 I just got in and my stats are a 3.8 GPA (unweighted, idk what it is weighted but I took all honors classes and no APs and lots of art and dance electives) and a 31 on ACT. my activities were various dance programs and intensives along with being in and eventually co-leading a club, and volunteering as an assistant teacher for various things at my religious school for 4 yrs. good luck!!
I’ve survived all of high school without facebook, guess I need to make one now!! this is so exciting. Other people from my school got in too!!
Hi everyone! I got accepted but I did not see anything about scholarships/financial aid? where/when can we find out about all of that.
ACCEPTED!! ELLIOT 2023
I got accepted!! I have a 29 on my ACT and a 3.94 GPA with 5 IB classes and improvement over the years. I’ve also done music since 4th grade and am in various school activities and volunteer outside of school as well. Proud of everyone!! Also if anyone knows how the DM stuff works on this website dm me if you’re hoping to do civic house (@fatcat27 i saw you say you’re doing it but i can’t figure out this website rip)
I got accepted to Elliot 2023!!!
@mcfreakinout I think I mistyped when I said essay stats. I have seen alot of people rank their essays out of 10 and so that is essentially what I meant. Ranking it like that though is subjective but I still wanted each persons thoughts on their own essay.
@aaaahhhh4444 That is great. thank you!
Welp, I didn’t get in. This kinda sucks.
Btw I had 3.94 unweighted GPA, 1330 sat (didn’t send), 5 AP’s and would rate my essays 8/10 maybe idk
Ok wait what do we do now that we’re accepted?
Can anyone weigh in on if they think I will get in? I would appreciate the input.
From NJ
GPA: 3.7 Unweighted
SAT: 1250 (should I not send it?)
EC’s:
Intern with State Senator
Intern with Congressman
Eagle Scout
NJ Boys State
NJ DECA Chapter President
Model United Nations - Member, Competitor, Secretary
NJ American Legion Oratorical Contest Winner on County level
Recommendations:
-I got a rec letter from my DECA Advisor, I had him for a Business class as well. He speaks very highly of me so I think it was an amazing letter.
-My other letter was from an AP Gov teacher from Junior year. She was really great and liked me in class. I think this rec letter was a good letter (not as great as the one above).
-I got a 3rd rec letter from my State Senator that I interned with. He was really great. I worked really hard (I basically became a staff member because I worked so much. Other staffers said that I was basically staff too). I hope this letter goes a long way with GW.
-I have a great relationship with my Guidance Counselor and I think she wrote a great recommendation.
accepted into elliott 2023!!
here are my stats:
SAT- 1310- 720 (English) 590 (Math)
ACT- 30
5 AP Classes
4.0 GPA
let me know if you have any other questions
Now my opinion isn’t exactly 100% accurate but I think you have a very high chance of getting in. Your ECs are very impressive. I also think the rec letter from the state senator is really unique and would help you stand out. As long as your essays are good, you seem like a very strong applicant to me. I do not know what to tell you about your SAT score as I only sent in my ACT but someone else might have a better idea for that.
^^^^ @CollegeApplier57
Thank you very much @ewall24 I needed that. For my essay, I spoke about a wide range of things. I spoke about how NJ Boys State and Eagle Scout affected me as a person. At Boys State, I was really lucky to make it far in the electoral process but I was not successful in my ultimate goal. That failure taught me how to deal with loss and humility. As an Eagle Scout, I fell in love with cheerful service and so that is generally what I talked about. Do not want to get too specific though for privacy reasons. I really hope the State Senators rec letter helps and makes me stand out. I am applying for Poli. Sci so hopefully my activities and the rec letter contribute to my “spike”.
If someone sees this I posted my laundry list of a college resume above. I got 1250 on the SAT and since GWU is optional, does anyone think I should not send it. I have a pretty solid GPA at 3.68/4.00 unweighted
