GW Public Health Major

Hi,
My daughter is a HS Junior and we recently went on a GW Campus tour. She really likes the school and is thinking about applying to their BS in Public Health with Pre Med concentration at the Milken Institute School of Public Health.
We have some concerns and would greatly appreciate if GW students or alumni or anyone who has knowledge about this major could address them.

  1. We heard that registering for classes for this major is very difficult and it fills out pretty quickly. Is it true?
  2. How helpful are the academic advisors in choosing classes in order to fulfill the major requirements along with premed requirements?
  3. What are the internship opportunities in the D.C area? Is it very competitive?
  4. What are the Research opportunities available for the Undergrad students? She checked their website and saw that lot of professors are doing research. Do they give preference to the Graduate students in MPH or do they also give opportunities to the undergraduates?
  5. Since she is planning on pursuing Medical school, GPA is very important. Heard some universities are know for Grade deflation. Is GW neutral?
