GW vs UMD for Bio

GW and UMD ended up being the same price for me and I’m having a tough time deciding between the two…

UMD is ranked higher for bio and they have lots of specializations offered in the biological sciences, zo I don’t have to do gen bio, which is nice considering I want to go into medicine and would rather not spend too much time on eco & evol. It also offers biochem, so I would be able to switch to that if I decide I prefer it.

GW is allocated right in DC, giving me better access to lots of amazing institutions such as the NIH. It also has not of hospitals nearby, including its own university hospital, and I would move to get shadowing opportunities. (UMD’s med school is amazing and ranked much higher, but it is not in College Park.) Also, I wouldn’t need to worry about being taught by TAs as much.

Can anyone help me think this through :sob:

IMO the schools are academic peers. It really depends on what type of college experience you want over the next four years.

Do you want a traditional campus or urban ‘campy’ if you can call it that ?

The rank is not relevant. Bio leads to grad school or likely a low paying position.

Both work. Gw is a polar opposite of most colleges from a vibe and living environment so when seeing both, one should tug at you more than the other.
