I just received an acceptance package from GWU.
I just finished first 2 years of college at a cc in IL and will transfer out soon.
I have been planning to go to University of Wisconsin Madison, but now I have another option. I know GWU is very expensive, but I like its urban style, opportunities for interships, and network stuffs?!!! you know....
I am from a relatively poor family and have 0 EFC. What kind of Fin. Aid package will I receive from GWU?

only GWU can give you an honest answer - and it largely depends on luck. However, I am thinking about being in your very same position, next year - transfering into GWU for my junior year, and having a 0 EFC - so I am very interested to know what they offer you. Please be sure to post your award, once you receive it

They gave me crap for Regular. Chicago gave me over 4x as much money and actually met my EFC. GWU came short by about 25k.

I just received Financial Aid Package today. What do you guys think?

Estimated Federal Pell Grant $1900.00
Federal Suppliemental Grant $2000.00
GW Guaranteed Grant $16000.00
University and Alumni Award $15000.00
Federal Work Study Prog. $2500
Fed. Sub Stafford Loan Refer.$5500.00
Federal Perkins Loan $1800.00
Total Award $44700.00
Above is a total award for one year with on-campus housing. It is more than what I expected but should I choose to go here over University of Wisconsin Madison?

that looks pretty good...if your EFC was 0, why didn't you recieve the maximum Federal Pell Grant of $4,050..i think its that much, not sure though.

maybe if you appeal you'll be able to convince them of some type of special circumstance and get a few extra thousand, I've heard alot of successes of increased aid by appealing and writing a letter.

Yeah, that's weird. I believe a 0 EFC entitles you to $4050 of Pell Grant (at any school)... though maybe they figured they replaced part of that with GW grants?

I have a 45k EFC and got in RD. I got my financial aid package today. GW gave me 4k in grants and 6k in loans.

Indiana gave me more money, and they cost $40,000/year less.

I think GWU is too expensive in this case - you're not going to have any more opportunity leaving GWU than Wisconsin will give you -- pocket the money.
