GWU Net Price Calculator

How accurate is GW’s NPC? We ran the NPC and received $0 aid, but in all the other schools we ran we received 13,000 - 20,000 including SMU which is tied at #56 with GWU in USNWR ranking. We are getting about $45,000 - $33,00 total costs at other private institutions. Total costs at GW are $68,000, so we would not be willing to pay $68,000 when other schools are offering merit/aid that would significantly reduce the costs.

did you do ED? GW does give some Merit if you are waiting for RD. Whether they admit my D and also give us some merit/aid will play a big factor for us. She wanted ED really bad, but I could not commit at those costs.

My son is a junior and we are just in the process of visiting schools. I would like my son to be able to ED at whatever school makes the top of his list, but I won’t ED if the NPC says $0 aid.

When my son was applying a few years ago the NPC was dead on accurate. His financial aid award was pretty much the exact amount predicted (however, most of it ended up being merit and the rest the alumni grant)

If I remember correctly, GW net price calculator is strictly for financial aid. Do those other schools ask for gpa , sat etc? If so they may be including projected merit aid. GW does give nice merit aid but applying ED would be risky in my opinion if they are showing $0 financial aid and no estimate on merit aid.

I completely agree. I will have to investigate his chances for Merit. Any school that can’t give me an estimate on merit will not be considered for ED as I know we will not qualify for any financial aid.

I’m not sure how many parents hang out in the forum, but you can always ask in the FB group “GWU Parents.”
