Hey i'm wondering what the social scene is like at George Washington, specifically parties. Are they mostly Greek oriented and if so are they exclusive? Also how strict is dorm policy? Thanks.

Well seeing as it is 3am I have just returned to my dorm room from a party. Parties on campus are mostly thrown by different groups, wether it be Greek or say an acappella group. Although only 20 percent of GW is Greek I would say that Greek parties are where most people go. You do not have to be Greek to go to these parties.

As far as university strictness goes, the district of columbia is not a state and because of this any violation of the law in the district is a federal offense. The university is realistic in that college kids that are under 21 years of age want to drink and they want to make sure that kids do not drink in the district. Because of this, the university police department is fairly lax because the policy of the university is that if kids are going to drink then the university wants them to drink on campus where the university can control the behavoir and be in charge of the consequences. Thus, UPD is normally very lax and drinking is in no way hard to do. This is reinforced by te fact that there are two liquor stores close to campus that do not card.
