I’m calling in ten minutes… wish me luck guys! and thank you @GWdreamteam1998
Just called in, I think it went really well they loved the progress I’ve made with my school’s NAACP group (raising money to send water to flint) along with me being in the cum laude society among other things. Although the person I talked to didn’t ask me about why I chose GW, I mentioned it myself and was like oh I wanted to express to you how much I want to go to this school and he said that he loved my enthusiasm. Praying that all goes well for everyone!
Are today and yesterday special call in days or something? How did everyone hear about it?
@Piggyrunner2 It said in the waitlist response to call yesterday or today if you’re interested in being on the waitlist and if GW is your top choice!
Thanks!
Just curious-for those of you wait listed were you like unsure you would get in or did you think you had a good chance? I’m looking to apply next year. And did you send you standardized test scores?
@annamanna I didn’t send in my test scores and I had a feeling i would get in because my brother did and his stats were worse, but a lot more people applied this year making it more competitive. Im honestly grateful that I got waitlisted (i mean ya i wish i got in but ooh well) because it means that I was good enough, but there were others that are good too.
could someone call in to see how many people accepted the waitlist lol. i mean we really dont know our chances until may 2nd
Annamanna, it’s a crap-shoot. Of all the schools to which I applied, this should have been the easiest admission by far, and I was, in fact, accepted to all of the other more selective (meaning, a lower % admittance rate) schools. It doesn’t make sense. Yes, I submitted test scores, which happened to be significantly higher than most of those who celebrated their admittance on this site and shared their profiles. I visited, I requested an interview (although they shut down that process because they couldn’t meet the demand, so all I got was a really poorly run phone interview with a current student). My regional admissions rep left mid-year which left me with no direct contact in the process. Overall, GWU’s admissions process was a rip-off. I really wouldn’t be surprised if I found out one day that no one ever even got around to looking at my application. Now I’m relieved I have decided to attend another institution. Everything happens for a reason. GWU has left me with the impression that they are bigger than they can handle, they are mis-managed, and that is not where I want to invest my $$. Good luck with your college search!
@annamanna My daughter applied test optional. She was admitted to the Elliott School of International Affairs and the University Honors Program. She also received a significant Presidential Academic Scholarship. She currently attends a full IB private school (3 HL classes, 3 SL classes, extended essay, CAS and TOK). GW-Elliott was her top choice for many reasons (to include location). She will major in international affairs with a concentration in conflict resolution (Europe/Eurasia) and minor in political science. She plans to attend law school after undergrad.
guys ok I’m freaking out! the twitter page is exploding with a whole bunch of people that are committing and I’m here wondering will there be room for me? for us? FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE GW?!
the waitlist is unranked
Just saw this article on the wait list. The article provides stats on GW at the bottom…
@HappyFace2018 soo we should start crying because one could only assume that as the popularity of GW increases the chances of us getting off the waitlist… well decreases. I will still try to put my name out there and let them know that I LOVE GW and will do anything to get in
@GWdreamteam1998 As I read it my heart sank a little. My daughter was wait listed at Wellesley but it wasn’t her #1 choice like GW. I’m saying a prayer for all of you.
@HappyFace2018 thanks <3
Did anyone else get a call from GW today? My sister is on the waitlist and an admissions officer called her to confirm that GW was her top choice (even though she already made it clear during her call-in). She told her that they are going to start looking at student profiles next week. Not positive but I think this is a sign that they are moving to the waitlist. Also, any idea what the call means?
@fhgirl16 WOW TELL UR SIS CONGRATS!!! I didn’t get a call but its a good sign! Im glad to know that they are moving with it because from past chats I was worried they would pull it to the summer.
did anybody else get that call? now I’m super nervous
GW is calling people who called last week? I’m also nervous too
