Gym/Work out

Hi, does anyone know what excercise I can work out to get broader shoulders? Thanks.

cross country ski :)

colorguard! rifle/sabre/flag

Erm.... The machine where you sit down on a chair and then push bars up and down so at your highest point your arms are raised up like you're on a rollercoaster. Sorry if that's unclear, I forget the machine's propa' name.

I think this exercise is called the military press...

Like what Gold Heart Thief described with his exercise... only instead of a bar with weights... dumbells...

Using dumbells also forces you to exercise your stabilizing muscles.

The best way to build upper back and shoulders easy w/o weights....pull ups.

If you go to the gym...Smith/Military press, Arnold Press, Bent-over Rows, Side Laterals, Pull downs. Theres many.

yeah handstands. i started against the wall and over time, gradually walked my way away from that same wall. really builds and sculpts your shoulders AND arms. oh yeah and pullups like prn00dle said, they work well too.

Rowing machine'll do the trick.

Sex has been shown to be a good method of exercise.

eight count bodybuilders

look it up

wax on wax off

An erg (rowing machine to non-rowers)
they usually have one at the gym
they look like this jawn right here

http://www.racetrak.com/crc/hotl/2003/erg.jpg

or u can get one for $700-800... i've burned up to 1,600 calories doing workouts on it and when you're done every single muscle in your body is dead (if you actually did a hard workout). but you shouldn't use the machine unless you have a rower or a coach teach you how to use it otherwise you'll end up hurting yourself

If you want broad shoulders you have to work your upper back. The V shape body, with the broad shoulders and the thin torso is primarily created by the back.

thats why i suggested an erg... have you ever seen a rower's back? do you know what the rowing motion is like? you literally use every muscle in your body at least one point during the stroke. erging will get your muscles all even too so you look proportionate and stuff

to get the cobra back and broad shoulders you should do deadlifts, reverse flies, military press, front and lateral raises, pull ups, seated rows, pull downs.

does working out really stun your growth? I heard that it does. Can anyone verify this?

Wide shoulders can be accomplished by doing reps of wide grip pullups. Palms facing away, grab the handle just 1-3" farther from shoulder grip. If you cannot do many of these, lat pulldowns are ok, but really strive for the pullups.

I found that if you can lat pulldown your own weight...pull ups become very easy.

Lifting may stunt growth if you perform exercises wrong, which, unfortunately...many beginners do. But the younger you start lifting the better the results may be. Its alot easier to get in shape when your 16 than 30.

A word about lifting: do not go to the gym with more than one buddy, or best, go alone. I see too much bs lifting, high school punks trying to lift wayyy more than they can (trying to impress each other or other people in general). Leave your ego at home and accept advice from the pros there. It is better to lift with proper form with lighter weights than lifting heavy stuff with a bad form.

Agreed. However, I always suggest going with one buddy. ALWAYS good to have a spotter who can assist you with every exercise. Asking for a spot from a stranger works too, but you don't wanna hastle the person going from exercise to exercise. When I was at school, I went with two of my buddies. It was perfect because we had a good rotation on the benches/machines that worked for the ideal rest/spot for each of us.
