Is there a list out there of schools that don't require a letter of recommendation to transfer? I've googled it and searched here and all I get is responses that don't require an essay.

The reason I'm asking this is because my two FAVORITE FAVORITE schools do require them, but I have really no hope of those schools anymore so I'm trying to find other options where I could be happy at also.

I know Lehigh doesn't require one, and that's one of my favorites but most of them do require a letter.

*Disclaimer: I'm not at the university I was first semester, I'm at the local community college; I'm ~5 hours away from said university. I'm taken the time to my three professors (from last semester, previous university) really in-depth emails about the process and asking for recommendations- this was 3 weeks ago, I never heard ANYTHING back from them, not even a response telling me they didn't feel comfortable doing them, just nothing. So a week & a half ago, I sent a follow up email just stating the due date, and adding if they didn't feel confident in doing one to let me know ASAP because I need to find something. I called two days ago, none have returned my phone calls. I feel like I'm stuck against a wall.

Since I'd be transferring as a sophomore these three teachers are really my only options (I took three classes only because one was 6 credits, 1 was 4 and one was 3- All honors; I took another 2 credit gym to fulfill my sporting requirement (was no instructor)

I can't do another semester here- it's not an option because my mother just accepted a job that she'll start mid summer as a CEO in Vegas, and my dad got a job similar to his now (college instructor) and I REALLY think it would look bad to attend a THIRD college and attempt to transfer

so yeah;
does anyone have a list of schools that don't require instructor evaluations?

1) What is wrong with asking one of your current CC instructors? I don’t expect that you’d be the first one in this situation!

2) Nothing wrong with transferring to the CC closest to where your parents will be living. You could finish up your AA there which would make the final transfer process easier.

3) Transferring multiple times is more common than you’d think!

I think it’s best to just look around. I applied to 4 schools recently and none of them required recommendation letters. The only advice I can give is that private schools and “academically superior” schools are going to require them more often than not. State schools are a good bet I would say.

Have you looked into Mt Holyoke?

I think wake forest doesn’t require them. And Drexel doesnt either. Other than those look into state schools as someone already said.

Happymomof1-
- I just feel like they haven’t really gotten any chance to know me at all: We just started this past monday and have had 1 snow day already… so I’ve only had classes once or twice
- More so, I don’t WANT to go to community college any longer, I’m interested in sororities (I rushed last semester but had to quit due to class conflictions (sp?))- Also! I intend on cheering or trying to cheer at my future school so the sooner, the better.

eLynn07- Thanks! I’ve been googling like crazy but all the schools I seem interested in require recommendations (I’ve got schools like Baylor, TCU, Wake Forest, Fordham and Lehigh on my list that don’t require them)- I transferred originally FROM a state school because I’m not interested in a school that big haha that was my big factor before but thanks :)

kedavanport- I haven’t, but I’m also not interested in attending an all women’s college but thank you

NotAClue- Wake Forest is actually on my list! my HS guidance counselor and her son both went there; and I visited Drexel in my Senior year and didn’t like it but thanks also haha

^ When I ask professors for recommendation letters, even the ones that know me extremely well, they always ask for a “brag sheet” that functions as a resume so they have achievements to write about. Chances are you’ll be asked to provide one if they don’t know you well. You can give them one if they don’t ask for it.

I would be willing to guess that they would be happy to write a letter - especially if you explain your situation to them. It would be a pity to limit your options because you won’t ask the CC professors.

That’s true I didn’t think of that, like my resume.

I am hoping to ask one this coming week and hoping they consider my situation also. I just feel extremely awkward because for three of my classes I’ve only met the professor once, and for one of them I’ve only met the professor twice. One is online. It’s hard because our school started SO late.

haha gurr to bad my father teaches at a different CC.

all of the schools i’m looking at don’t require a letter of rec…there’s literally tons of schools that don’t require it

None of the schools I’m applying to require a letter of recommendation…

okay, haha i get that there’s a lot… but thats not mega helpful lol
