haas and ucla business admin applicants

for those of you who have been declined admission at ucla for business econ, what are your stats and did you receive the haas supplementary application?

Hey, did you receive a decision from UCLA?

i never applied for haas, i knew i wouldnt get in so i opted for econ instead.
But for ucla,
rejected.
3.8gpa
igetc completed..however, i did not do the right calculus course, and i didnt not finish managerial accting.

Which Calc class did you take?

for life and science series

I just read that someone is rejected UCLA Econ with 4.0 gpa..how is it possible??I can't believe it!!

lilomui, but you still did two classes equivalent to Calc I and II? Sorry about LA. Not sure, but doesn't Cal require the same calc classes as UCLA does for econ? Good luck at Cal!

yes, i took/am taking calculus for life and science, 1 and 2.
But i didn't take managerial accting so....
and they did stress the importance of doing all the pre-reqs BEFORE summer.

Thankfully, cal takes the life and science series, so im pretty set for cal's pre-reqs ^_^

You mean Cal and UCLA have different prereqs? Honestly, I don't know the prereqs for Berkeley econ. Anyway, that is good. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (AND, good luck to me, too.)

^are you the one that applied to haas school of business? If so, did u finish all the pre-reqs?

I applied to Haas. I finished all the prereqs, and I completed the supplementary application. I am nervous as hell about Berkeley, and on top of that I am still pending at UCLA. Hopefully, I will have some peace of mind by the end of the week. I would also be happy at Marshall. I need to stop tripping about all this though. :( Anyway, good luck at Berkeley. I think you have the stats for UCB's Economics. I know several of others who go there (accepted as CC transfers last year) with similar stats. Good luck! :)

i wonder if whether you have been rejected from one school before admitting you to theirs plays a factor with la and berk. for example, ucla sees that someones has been rejected from berk in their inter-uc commucation system, then admits them.

Good luck to you too as well CC Student.
I wanted to go into haas, but seeing that their acceptence was at 8%, and because i didnt nearly have the pre-reqs done (you're pretty good to have it all done, its sooo much more than others!), i opted for economics instead. Your friends who got acepted as CC transfer to economics, may i know their stats?

I don't know how well-written their personal statements were, but I know they completed the prereqs for econ.

3.8
Good ECs

3.9
Okay ECs

4.0 (very difficult courseload and working full-time)
Okay ECs
Admitted for Spring (Very strang because he applied for Fall)

All of them are guys, who transferred from my school. Strange. I know (kind of know) two women who transferred from community college to Haas from my school. One of them mentored me through the UC Berkeley Starting Point Mentorship program.

The transfer specialist from Berkeley, who I consulted several times during my time at community college, said for someone with my stats that I would easily be accepted to Berkeley's econ (I think she was basing a lot of this on my age) and that Haas was a gamble.

your post just gave me back some hope again of admission CC Student ^_^
what are your stats btw? I know you posted them before but ..i forgot where it went...too many threads here.

And yes...that is very weird that the 4.0 with difficult courseload would be admitted for spring?! Doesnt make sense.

GPA: 3.73 (I know its low)
Age: 17 (not sure how positive this really is...)
Units: 116 after this semester
Lots of ECs (community service, student government, clubs, honor society, TA, etc.)
Very little work experience
Decent Resume (will a small font count against me?)
Decent Personal Statements (everyone told me that the main one for UC is "excellent," but maybe they are just biased to me)
UC Berkeley Starting Point Mentorship (Haas student) - hoping this will help
IGETC; AA in Bus Admin
Completed 9 breadth requirements and all prereqs with A's except for a B in Calc I
Calc II is not a prereq so I hope they will overlook my C in that class

I think that would be all that they would judge. I am so nervous. I have had insomnia all this week. I need to chill. At least, I studied for my accounting exam, and I am maintaining my low A. I can understand why you did not take managerial (esp. if you had the teacher I have).
Anyway, I seriously think you will make it to Berkeley. Though my opinion doesn't count much compared to Berkeley's. Good luck. :)

Good night.

You're 17 and you have 116 semester units?!

Yes, I am and I have.
