How hard is it to be accepted to the business undergrad program, and if i dont get accepted what other options are there for me if i want to go the business route. Please help! Thanks

A lot of people major in economics as a backup

^fortify: Do you know how hard it is to get into economics? I know it’s less competitive than Haas business administration but it’s still a capped major so I’m a bit worried.

how bout as a back up to econ what do ppl who want to do business major in?

The backup to Econ would be PEIS.

Average undergrad GPA at UCB in order to get into Haas is about 3.42 to 3.45

Avg GPA is actually 3.7 :(

If you want to get into the business route, you don’t necessarily have to major in econ. You only need to be involved in the business WORLD; join professional clubs/frats, meet professionals, and get internships. You can major in anything else and still come out doing business. Unless you want to be an accountant, then you need to take some accounting classes but you still don’t need to be in Haas for that.

But, of course, you have an advantage in connecting to the business world if you’re in Haas because of their network, which is why so many people want to get in.

^^ That is true. I know someone who majored in communications at Cal, and she’s now working in marketing at MTV.

However, I myself would prefer to just get into the Haas program. . . .

what do you guys think about majoring in communications at Cal and then trying to get into a business school at Davis, San Diego, or LA?

Or would you much rather go to competitive Haas?
