Haas school of business majors????

So i was researching haas school of business and I noticed they only have 1 major… business administration. i was interested in going to school for finance/MIS so business administration doesn’t really fit what i want… Obviously berkeley has the prestige so woudl it make sense to go there for prestige and get a degree in business administration or should i go to one of the lesser known schools on my list and get a degree in the specific areas i want… it is really hard to find info on the haas website so i guess i’m just confused about what their program exactly is.

what i gather is that basically the undergrad program is not to put you into the job world right away but to prepare you for grad school at berkeley where you then go on to your specific area

Current undergrad here, plenty of Haas students obtain jobs right after graduating, see https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/BusAd.stm

Basically the undergrad program is a BS in Business Administration but students can take electives in Haas that allow them to concentrate on specific areas such as finance, accounting, marketing etc. I would recommend that you read more about the program and its major requirements here http://guide.berkeley.edu/undergraduate/degree-programs/business-administration/

edit I’d also add that getting internship experience in your area of interest while in college will help with getting jobs (and applying to Haas)

Just graduated from Haas, and almost all go to jobs right after graduation. It’s true, the Haas major is more of a holistic education, but it by no means detracts from getting you into the field you want to be in. PM me if you have more questions.

The prestige and network at Berkeley will get you connected with the key people you need to land that internship or job.

As some of the above people mentioned, Haas does have required courses (accounting, leadership, micro and marcoecon, finance), but you also have the opportunity to take more finance electives in addition to the core classes. So although there’s no finance major, there’s certainly an opportunity to create your own kind of finance concentration.
Some of the classes include: Corporate Finance & Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Institutions and Markets, Investments, Behavioral Finance.
