Had this happened to anyone for critical reading

I scored 720 on my first practice test only missing. On my second one, however, I scored a 610. How does that even happen?

Before anyone tells me to worry about my writing section because of my title, I’ll have you know that I’m on my phone and it’s hard to type.

I’ve fluctuated between 740 and the mid 600s. Because my CR sections often depended on how much I liked the passages and how well I knew particular vocabulary, large fluctuations happened.

I’ve never had a fluctuation that great. Mine was usually no more than 50. Do another to determine which is the fluke and hope that it’s the 610.

Maybe tests from different books differ significantly. I did 2400 in 7 steps and scored 660 while I usually score 550 to 600.

I think fluctuations are common for critical reading practice tests.
Maybe you just didn’t understand the passage well enough the second time around because you weren’t familiar with the material or you just weren’t focused. For me, I fluctuated from scores around 650 to 800 before my actual test. I think it was because I was distracted during my practice tests or something. I ended up with an 800 in CR so don’t sweat it. I’d say try to digest as much vocabulary as possible (i think the vocab questions are the easiest so i hate getting those wrong) and read! Read anything from Time, The Economist, etc.

you can do it!
