I am a guy with long hair and facial hair. When it's at its longest, the back will come down to my shoulder, but usually not much farther. Will this interfere with me trying to get work as an undergrad intern or after I have my engineering degree(s)?

I don't think it'd be a big concern.

Just make sure you tie it back before working with any machines. :)

Haha. I'll remember that, mollie.

Thanks, Mr. Payne, I didn't think it would that big of a deal. I really think it'd be even less of a deal with civil engineering, for some reason.

I know a few guys that look similar and have internships, so I don't think it's a problem. I think it probably depends more on the culture of the office, though.

Depends on where you work. People who go farther up in the corporate ladder tend to have short hair and a clean shave.

I would just be on the safe side and shave/cut my hair. I would say it is more likely it matters than not.

At the very least tie it back and trim/shave your beard. You don't want to look like a homeless person.

Oh, I definitely trim my beard. I don't have a moustache. I have the "shaggy" look. It can get kind of frizzy, though. Haha.

I definitely agree 100%. It might matter less for an intern, but if you're applying for a full-time position, the company wants somebody who can represent their organization well, especially in front of clients.

He's in Civil Engineering. I doubt his appearance matters that much.

lol, I wouldn't think that just tying the hair back for an interveiw would be a problem. If you do that, you'll be fine.

you'll fit right in the math department

Is that real? Which one is Bill?

bottom left?

Bingo :)
