Ok...so me and my parents got into a discussion. I was thinking about applying for an internship with a private CPA firm. However, my parents say that I would more than likely not be as welcome with my long hair. I mean, it's not too long. It is a little shorter than shoulder length, and its very well groomed - not over my eyes or anything. Anytime I try to make an arguement with them they say that people that handle others money are expected to be clean cut. I say ********.

If you're not hired because you have long hair, do you think you'd really want to work there anyway? There are plenty of private CPA firms you can chose to work at.

i noticed youre from kentucky. could it be described as "white-trash-esque"?
is it more of a mullet than anything else? these are important issues.

No, I do not have a mullet lol, and I am far from "white trash".

I just wanted to get some experience in before college. Our family happens to be friends with the head of a CPA firm. Because the place is private and he is the one calling the shots, I think I could easily land some internship time. I just dont think my long hair should be a factor of whether I should apply or not.

Fair or not, the question is: what do the people in charge think? And, if they don't like it, are you willing to give this to them in exchange for what you want?

Why should they care? Long hair or not, they should hire you purely based on your abilities. This is why I think they should switch to phone interviews.
