Half.com ???

Anybody had any experience buying their textbooks from them???

I just bought my chem book from a seller on half.com...got a great deal too. It was just shipped I think.

Anyway, if you use half.com and amazon.com together you can save a lot of money. Just get the ISBN number from your school and plug it into the search field, pick the best combination of quality and price, make sure the seller has solid feedback, and enjoy saying money.

I used to get CDs from Half.com all the time before iTunes. Very good.

I've had very good luck with textbooks purchased from sellers on half.com.

I exclusively use half.com. It is a great site. When I am finished with my books I sell them on there too.

i buy from them every semester...never had any trouble

I buy all my books there...get great deals and have never had any problems. Usually save between 50 and 80% on every book.

half, amazon, and ebay are the way to go...forget about all other online booksellers.

IRT Post#2: www.amazon.co.uk?

www.amazon.com is the US-based site, and www.amazon.co.uk is the British version.

I've read that it's cheaper to buy textbooks on the British site.

I use http://www.bigwords.com/, which searches most of the bargain booksellers including half.com and Abebooks. It's really helpful.

what if the ISBNS arent showing up on amazon and half.com??? how do i know if im getting the right book?

You can email the seller and ask for the ISBN of the book being sold. On some book seller websites, you can actually search by the ISBN. However, the identical editions (pages, problems, etc) can have different ISBN's if there were multiple printings of that same edition or if some books were made with a different cover.

well my college bookstore gives me isbn numbers but whenever I type them in any website it always says item not found but when i search titles it always gives me results.....does anyone else have this problem?

You may be searching for a new printing that is not generally available for saled used.

Maybe this will help--when the UMD bookstore sent me ISBN numbers, it included dashes, and when I plugged those into amazon and half.com, they came up empty, but when I removed the dashes, you get results.

I had a bad experience at Half.com several years ago. I ordered a CD for my dad's birthday gift, and I got another CD of the correct album name but wrong artist. I returned the CD but never got the correct CD or my money back. I refuse to shop there again. (This was probably 5-6 years ago, they may have improoved)

^The thing is, that is just one individual seller on half.com. If you only buy from those with 95% or higher feedback ratings, you're most likely to never have a bad transaction.

gettextbooks.com searches all the book sites for the cheapest price for a book, including half, amazon, bn, etc. Very useful.

Obviously, if you're looking for cheap textbooks, go with international editions. They were illegally imported into the United States, but buying them within the US is not illegal.
