HAMILTON COLLEGE CLASS OF 2021 ED I THREAD

Hi guys, I’m Elena! Can’t believe that we’re hearing back from Hamilton exactly two weeks from today!! I’m insanely nervous, but I’m trying to keep in mind that what a college admissions department decides is by no means any reflection of my own character.

I also had what I think was a great interview with an alumni representative in October. I went to Junior Preview Day in February, and got my representative to visit my high school after expressing my interest in attending Hamilton. I have a bunch of email threads with my rep, other admissions officers, current students, etc. Crossing my fingers!!!

Best of luck to everyone!

Edit: I feel like I did my personal essay and supplemental well also- basically, I know I have done all I could do, but Hamilton is such a selective school.

Though you really haven’t asked for your chances, @elenaclaire828, you have indicated much more here that would get you in than would keep you out. Beyond that, Hamilton seems perfect for your interests. Wishing you luck on decision day!

@merc81 That’s so nice of you to say, thank you so much! To be perfectly honest, since my college search began, I have always found your replies to be informative and your expertise on Hamilton in particular is much appreciated. I’m confident that I put my best foot forward in my application, I just reaaaaallllly hope that it shines through. I’d be so blessed to join Hamilton’s class of 2021!

I applied ED1 as well! There are so many things that I love about Hamilton, and I hope things work out for me. Also, @elenaclaire828 we sound like very similar applicants, so I hope things work out for both of us! Less than two weeks to go!

@danhir It’s so surreal! Sending good vibes your way, hope we end up meeting on the hill next year

Haha seeing all of your stats makes me want to get in fetal position and cry about my chances ;(

Intended Major: Philosophy
Applied ED I

31 ACT
3.86 GPA
Texas
Argentinian
Fluent in Spanish
5 AP English Test

Lifeguard and Swim Instructor
Captain of Varsity Swim Team
Member of National Honor Society
Officer of National English Honor Society

Visited Hamilton twice, once to interview, then went on an overnight trip for swim team (I’m a potential swimmer there)
Interview lasted over an hour (I felt really good about it)
2 Letters of rec, I’m positive that they were excellent
My common app essay was about how Monty Python’s flying circus led me to become more open minded (It’s a long story, but I think it’s pretty original)

@lavishdolphin Nooo don’t even say that! Let’s both get in and go to college together  Wishing you good vibes!!

༼ つ ◕◕ ༽つ Take my positive vibes ༼ つ ◕◕ ༽つ

Good luck!!!

I applied ED I to Hamilton too!

I am an international student from Nepal and my SAT score is 1370. I did retake the SAT in December but it might not be considered for the ED I decision. I have all As in my predicted scores and my high school percentile is top 5%. My interview went pretty well (that’s what I think haha). Looking forward for a positive response!

Good luck everybody!

@Permeltwat Wow, that’s awesome! Crossing my fingers for you!

Hi! International student here from Bangladesh and applied ED1.

ACT: 33/36 (second attempt)
TOEFL: 108/120
Took the O Levels and A levels under the University of Cambridge International Examinations Board (CIE) in 2014 and 2016 respectively. Graduated from high school in 2016 so currently taking a gap year.
ECAs: Dancer and choreographer of classical Southeast Asian dance forms (submitted a Slideroom video).
Music: Vocals. Have been part of the school choir.
I also lead my own environmental club.

I happen to require a lot of need based financial aid so fingers crossed.
Best of Luck everybody!!

@Anushkei One of the many great things about Hamilton is that they’re need-sensitive to international students so if your accepted, they promise to meet full need without considering your ability to pay! Good luck, you sound like you’d be a great admit!

@elenaclaire828 Thank you Elena and best of luck!

@Anushkei Thanks! And lol sorry for the typo saying “your” instead of “you’re” in my first reply…autocorrect isn’t always on my side.

@elenaclaire828 Did not even notice the typo previously hahahahaha. I have my frequent bouts with autocorrect too so don’t worry about it

4 days guys!

Has anyone else’s Parent ED Agreement not been downloaded off of the common app? The rest of my recommendations say downloaded on November 15, but the Parent form only says submitted.

@danhir Is the submitted thing through Naviance? All of my stuff is in…go on your Hamilton portal admissions checklist and if the Parent ED agreement is still unchecked, I suggest that you call the Admissions Office ASAP.

@elenaclaire828 Yea, the portal says my application is complete, but the common app just says the the parent agreement hasn’t been downloaded. The rest of my recommendations are from Naviance, but the parent agreement is through the actual common app website, as I believe it is for all students. I’m going to guess that they probably don’t need to download the parent agreement form if they see it is submitted since it is nothing more than just a typed name.
