Yes. Approached directly for Jan. It is an option on their common app. Don’t know if they ever offer kids who proactively state that they want Jan. fall instead, but that’s how we went in–with the Jan box checked off. Btw we’ve gotten good feedback on this choice.
You probably settled a lot of uncertainty with that post. And the fall London program that the involuntary kids usually enter, would your daughter be starting with that?
No idea yet about London. Likely but not sure.
Not sure why folks aren’t aware that its a checkbox option. Sounds like people on the ED1 thread are being offered it by Ham post-application–but did not know they could check it themselves. I get not choosing it but they sounded like they didn’t see it is a choice–maybe I’m interpreting the thread wrong though.
That thread would have been a lot easier to communicate on and read through if there were a single word for “applicants who have applied to begin at Hamilton in the fall who are offered admission only on the condition of a January start.” Then it would have been easier to distinguish between questions about that topic from questions from those like your daughter who wanted January from the start.
usage: “that topic [and] questions”
Just found out!!! IN!!! ED2. Hamilton Class of 2019. Good luck to all!!!
Congratulations! I was straight up rejected unfortunately. Honestly a little mad at Hamilton, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I guess I’m meant to be at a different school.
So sorry dancingwriter. I know how much it meant to you. I trust you have other options coming up for RD in April. You are meant to be somewhere special and you will. I wish you all the very best.
@rollypolly3 so is your daughter definitely a jan admit?
No mention of Jan. in notification. Says see you in August.
@rollypolly3: Congratulations to your daughter! She sounds like a particularly good match for, and addition to, Hamilton.
@dancingwriter: I’m sorry about the rejection, but it took warmth and fortitude to offer your congratulations elsewhere and conclude your thoughts on this thread.
Thank you, merc81. @dancingwriter-- What merc says is true. You were lovely to offer your congrats. I hope and trust you have other wonderful options you are pursuing. The college you are accepted to and attend will be very lucky to have you. My best!!
My son was also accepted to Hamilton ED2! I guess we will see you all in August @rollypolly3 !! I’m excited and finally have time to check out threads to see what we should expect!!
@rollypolly3 I’m just wondering. Did you find out if your daughter is a january admit or a fall admit? I think it is an interesting approach you took and wondering if it had any impact on the decision or if they disregarded your preference and put your daughter in the regular fall admit.
Yes! Sorry, just seeing this now. See you then!!
@crystalwaters23-- Although we had indicated that we were happy to come in Jan., we received an acceptance letter that mentioned nothing about Jan. Just “see you in late August.” We later confirmed that she is def. a Sept. admit. We were told that if she had been a Jan. admit, we would have received different language in the acceptance letter. Very happy that she is entering when she is. Don’t know what Ham’s thinking process was on their end, but very pleased with the outcome!
